I agree with the one reviewer that said they were heavy already, and I did initially try them out empty, but subsequently I filled them with buckshot. Once they were full, they definitely weighed a tonne, but I just feel the resonance is clearly that much better, certainly in the low end. I will not be looking forward to moving, as I said, these stands are now back-breakers. Happy I did it though.

One of the few affordable stands the right height for bookshelf speakers (closer to 25"). Sanus customer service is great!

The stands are heavy on their own. I didn't see any need to add weight to them. One issue was Sanus put the wrong size screw in the packaging for the bottom plate (3 out of 4 were ok). I had to go to the HD store and get another. Otherwise I would have given them 5 stars. The stands look nice. I just wish the made a 28". I built risers to go on top of them.

The Sanus Systems SF26 is a 26" stand for medium-to-large bookshelf speakers up to 35 lb. Its extra-large steel base includes optional carpet spikes for superior stability on any surface. Twin heavy-gauge steel pillars feature a concealed wire path and resonance damping rings that can be filled with sand or shot for added mass. The 6 x 6.5" top plate offers brass studs and neoprene pads for speaker isolation.
