You can enhance your astrophotography experience with the Self Guiding STT Filter Wheel, specifically designed for STT Series cameras. This advanced filter wheel, known as the SBIG FW8G-STT, boasts a self-guiding feature with an 8-position carousel, making it a standout choice for serious photographers. The unique design of this filter wheel incorporates a guiding CCD and associated optics, ingeniously built into the front cover, right in front of the filters. This innovative setup, however, means that camera lens adapters are incompatible due to the backfocus requirements. But don't worry, a lower profile standard cover, devoid of a guider, is available as an accessory. This standard cover can be easily swapped with the self-guiding cover when you wish to capture images through a camera lens.The carousel of this STT filter wheel is designed to hold eight 36mm filters, with inserts available for 1.25" filters. This allows for full sets of 36mm filters to be used for unvignetted imaging at any f/ratio, providing you with a wide range of creative possibilities.One of the standout features of the STT filter wheel is its positive centering mechanism. This mechanism ensures that filters are precisely re-positioned and securely held in the exact same position over the CCD every time, even after a power loss or intervening movement of the filter wheel. In tests conducted with an STT-8300, the re-positioning of the filters was found to be accurate to better than 5.4 microns after several complete rotations of the filter carousel. This high level of precision ensures that flat fields taken after the filter has moved and returned are accurate to a single pixel, enhancing the quality and consistency of your images.
