The CMC 6U Amplifier, an integral part of this kit, is specifically designed for condenser microphones, the only type manufactured by SCHOEPS. This amplifier is compatible with both 48- and 12-Volt phantom power supplies, automatically adjusting to the supply voltage. Regardless of the power source, the amplifier maintains consistent performance characteristics. The 12-Volt mode is particularly beneficial for battery-powered recording due to its lower power consumption. The amplifier is responsible for providing the electrostatic charge needed by the capsule to produce a signal. It features a symmetrical, transformerless, direct-coupled Class A output stage, ensuring low impedance, minimal distortion, and high resistance to interference. The balanced, low-impedance output allows for use with long cables and offers protection against Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). The MK 5 Switchable Omni/Cardioid Capsule included in the kit is a unique, switchable-pattern microphone that maintains full response to the highest audible frequencies. In its omnidirectional setting, the MK 5 offers smooth, extended low-frequency response and low sensitivity to wind, breath noise, handling noise, or mechanical vibration. Its cardioid setting retains full directionality even at very low frequencies, offering a clear and pure sound. The SG 20 Stand Clamp, with a 5/8"-27 NS internal thread and a supplied adapter for 3/8" and 1/2" mounting, allows for continuous angle variation in the vertical plane. This robust metal housing with a non-scratching plastic clamp is designed to securely hold microphones of 20 or 21 mm diameter. The B 5 Popscreen, an acoustic foam close-speech popscreen, provides sufficient protection at normal speaking distances for cardioids and other directional capsules. It can also be used as a windscreen for pressure transducers, with minimal effect on sound quality. In summary, the CMC65G Microphone Kit offers a comprehensive solution for professional audio recording, delivering exceptional sound quality and versatility.
