This unit will help minimize jarring, shaky footage but it's not going to provide the same ease of use as the motorized, higher priced units. Takes a little getting used to. Great for quick short clips and panning. Also, helps provide smoother footage while walking but it doesn't do well for sudden swings with the camera. The more you use it, the faster you realize its benefits and limitations. At $ it's definitely a useful entry level tool.

Adorama to the rescue AGAIN! I have seen these online for $ or more. My Stedicam Curve cost me a whopping $ and change. It is fantasticaly simple and eliminates all the jello. (Can your motorized unit do that for $? No.) Lightweight, compact, easy. The Curve will save you a ton of post production. No batteries required.

Difficult to learn at first, it is a pain trying to get the balance to set right with the GoPro in the case. Once you get the hang of it, stability is decent.

I must have missed this part when I purchased this product but it does not balance at all. I have the hero3 and we couldn't get it to balance. I was u aware that it needed the battery pack or LCD screen to function properly.

Small, compact and 2 options for use with locking handle and floating stabilization. Well made for the hobbyist, takes practice to get smooth results. Balancing is easier than other units I have tried in the past.

The Steadicam Curve is a gimbal-based handheld stabilizer that has been specifically engineered and designed for GoPro HERO, HERO2, HERO3 and HERO3+ action cameras. It requires the LCD BacPac for proper balance and monitoring. Once properly balanced, the Steadicam Curve is designed to allow you to capture extremely smooth shots without restricting your range of movement.
The CURVE's mechanical gimbal is designed to fully isolate the GoPro from handshake and vibration which helps reduce the motion-induced "jello effect" - wobbly, distorted video caused by the GoPro's "rolling shutter" CMOS sensor.
The Steadicam Curve GoPro accessory is a scaled down version of its bigger sibling, the Merlin, its size and form-factor designed to be in keeping with the compact, dynamic nature of the GoPro camera. When not in use, the handle tucks away beneath the camera mount, locking to the frame. In this folded configuration the Curve acts as a handle allowing you tote the camera around and can even function as an alternative camera rig for those shots where a handheld look is desired without sacrificing the control a rig provides.
