Great solution for TV everywhere in the house

This is the best computer based Over the Air (OTA) tuner I have ever used. Live TV can be viewed via the HDHomeRun app in Windows 10. I upgraded to a lifetime Plex Pass and recording via their DVR features works pretty well. Only gripe is the file sizes for the recordings are really large. It says it it works via 802.11ac but my PC is only 802.11n and it seems to have enough throughput to support live TV. The only thing is if there's a lot of traffic in your local network, shows can get a bit fuzzy.

Does what it says on the tin

Great little box, does exactly what you'd expect it to. It does lose one star for the following... You can't assign an IP address manually, it will only use DHCP No factory-default reset button (although there's really not much to reset) Software discovers the unit it via multicast so if you've got an "unusual" wifi network you may have some problems. If you're going to to plug it into a switch you'll be fine but you might have difficulties if you use a wifi bridge. Tuner's great though. With a reasonable antenna I'm getting stations 90 miles away.

Works very well for OTA to LAN

I am using this to link Plex DVR to my OTA channels, and so far it is looking really good. In the bay area, the HDHomeRun sees 64 channnels - about 50% HD - with a pretty simple ($) antenna, and puts them on the LAN with no problem whatsoever.

Easiest personal DVR I have ever set up.

This is much easier than dealing with a tv tuner card and it can be used by all of your devices at once (at least 2 at a time). There's an app for macos and windows or you can use something more robust like MythTV (not easy) or Plex DVR (so very very easy and awesome). Plex DVR is a beta and requires a plex pass but you can try it for a month for ($) (mostly this fee goes to getting you an updated program guide). Now all my shows record automatically and are ready to view when I am.

HDHomeRun

If you are looking for a way to convert OTA local channels to Ethernet, look no further! This is the Solution. Combining this product with a Plex subscription will enable you to leverage DVR (Beta) services. This thing is awesome.

It delivers the signal!

This unit was an easy install and sits near my downfeed from an antenna in my attic. I have a splitter with two feeds from the antenna to a Samsung TV and the HDHomeRun unit. The HDHR receives more stations than my Samsung TV. I'm 60 miles from NYC and I get around 75 channels (including subchannels) off the air. My TV gets about 60 connected to the same antenna! The delivery over Ethernet wired and wireless works well and there are no breakups on my 10/100MB/s home network. Software works OK, but I use it with Kodi and the HDHomeRun software for Kodi is more user-friendly. If you need to get off-the-air HD TV to multiple places and to your computer, tablet and phone screen, this is the WAY TO GO!!!
