Works well, good tuner, good viceo compression, silent
HDHomeRun Extend is a network HD TV tuner for over the air and cable broadcasts. In the US, get the ATSC version. It includes H.265 compression, both in high resolution and lower resolution for use on mobile devices. Fanless, it's quiet. The tuner works very well and the compressed files are smaller than H.264. Overall works very well. Recommended product.
Great Purchase
I use this network tuner with Plex DVR to record Over The Air (OTA) TV. Because of the hardware encoder to MP4, I don't have to recode the video to use it with my TV and Android devices. This means that Plex does not have to transcode the video for me to play it nor do I have to recode it after it is recorded. The device works great and I would recommend it.

Use your existing home router
To create your multi-room, multi-user solution simply plug your device into your existing home router to stream live and recorded HD content to media devices around your whole home. The EXTEND also transcodes for more efficient streaming and better playback which is beneficial if you are using legacy WiFi or have multiple viewing devices spread over a large house reducing the bandwidth required between media devices and your HDHomeRun tuner.
