This doesn't respond to windows, barely shows up in Mac stuff, and doesn't nearly do what it should. I am SO disappointed...

Our video servers work best with 10GbE or at the least dual gig. Possible for future? SSD internal! Willing to lose a blade...

A solid-state drive should be an option as well. I know there are other capable units out there that let you use SSD's but if you can integrate them all into one unit would be great!

I have both Macs and PCs. As the specifications clearly state compatible with Windows and Mac, I thought that would be the case. Turns out it isn't. For Mac, it is great. They have a driver and even a utility that allows you to control the light brightness and a couple of other things from the Mac. For the PC, there is nothing. Actually, if you go to the support page, it clearly states there will never be a driver or tool provided for Windows. The thing is, while this connects with Windows using thunderbolt, and all the USB ports and card reader ports work, the RJ45 port will not work without a driver. For those of you familiar with networking components with Windows, it is impossible for network related adapters to work without a driver. Also, while tje display port works, and running a monitor using the thunderbolt port works (using a proper thunderbolt cable), a second monitor so far has not worked. I am playing with the cables as it was kind of hit or miss with the second non display port monitor until I found a cable. Looking at Western Digital's/Sandisk's product offerings, it is clear that this particular device is aimed at Mac users which they consider to be "professionals" while the Western Digital Game Drive (slightly cheaper, but has ALL the same ports plus one and the possibility for an internal drive, but obviously not the card reader options) is designed 100% for PC users who are apparently considered "gamers." After purchasing a second one of the Pro Docks for a PC, I switched it for a WD Game dock/drive. The problem I had with that is that the hissing/coil whine was unbearable, and that with with or without anything connected to it... The Sandisk Pro Dock components are clearly different and in my opinion definitely a hair more premium than the WD game drive/dock. Regardless, the physical product itself is PERFECT for what I needed with a great mix of ports, enough power to charge (note that for Dell XPS users, the power requirement that is needed to charge WITH a load is 100w, not 87w, although that works fine for MACs and also still charges my Dell just fine while not under an intense load (i.e. using the gpu card to its fullest), and the modular reader options are great. It has a fan in it that sounds like it could be loud (when it starts up it quickly spins the fan) but I have never once heard the fan come on and I have a lot of things plugged into it as well as multiple cards.. If under a full load, you may note it not catching up the battery to full - using this dock or the WD dock will give you a little warning in the toolbar that the charger is underpowered. Again, that is just fine about 99% of the time as I never use it for heavy loads.) If I were to give you a bottom line, if you are fine not using the network port, and don't need 3 4k60fps monitors connected (if your computer can handle that), then this is great whether you go PC or MAC. I ended up just sticking with one of these and waiting for either Sandisk or another company to come out with something more appropriate for the PC. Nothing really comes close to this from a design, quality, or connection standpoint. It just seems silly that there is no driver for Windows. You will even note in device manager that it has an error showing this as an unknown device, even though though 80%+ of the functionality works.
