trying to use as an external storage device for a windows pc. apparently it wasn't designed with detection by anything less than a macbook because screw any filthy windows user. trying to reformat is worse than pulling teeth, and directions to reformat require a minimum 2 years in computer science to get to work correctly. no drivers online for easy use or reformatting, so it's now a very expensive brick

This drive serves an important function for home users too, providing a relatively small-form drive at a reasonable price which can survive an occasional drop or jar without losing data or being crippled. I purchased this for a neighbor for her use and my peace of mind.

My husband and I have purchased several 5TB G-Drives from Western Digital as well as our clouds etc spending a nice amount of money as we own a production company. First time we have had an issue with our drive and we had called and even filed an incident report with them. Did all they said and did not hear from them for over a month after we emailed them with what was asked to do. I had to call since I never heard back from them and the rep/tech that I spoke to gave us the instructions of sending them a picture of the model/serial no. Being that we do not have the original box we went ahead and had to open it to email them this picture and we receive a call that said basically since we did what was asked, our warranty is now voided because we opened the drive to give them the information they requested. We also needed to give them this information in order for them to be able email us a return address label which now will not happen because of what was asked from us. So it seems Western Digital rather lose a repeat customer that has spent with them a good chunk of money for several years over $170. Btw it also helps if your reps/techs with American names would actually be American that one can understand. We will be purchasing and giving our money to another company. So BEWARE! When a tech asks you for the serial number and you do not have the box, send the unit to them and have them look for it themselves so you do not come out losing.

Just purchased a 2TB SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD. I was pleasantly surprised to find the package includes both a USB-C to USB-C cable as well as a USB-A to USB-C cable as this was not advertised on the box. So I hooked up the ArmorATD to old Samsung Galaxy S10 5G running Android 12 using the C to C cable and when the USB icon speared on the upper left, I dragged it down to connect the device. I opened File Commander and it recognized the drive, but the S10 indicated it had to be formatted before it could be used on this device. So I clicked on the format option and it took about 10 seconds to format and assigned it a regular Windows-type device ID. I then opened File Commander and clicked on USB device and the ArmorATD showed up as a drive with the device ID and its usable capacity after formatting 1.82TB. I wanted to copy the entire current contents of the S10 internal storage so I selected all the folders and selected the option to copy them to the new device ID. The total data in the internal memory at this time is about 291GB. The ArmorATD tore through the copy process in under 10 minutes with no errors and displaying copy progress, name and location, and percentage remaining for each file. Most of the filenames zipped by too fast to read. During the file copy the ArmorATD's white LED blinked. The entire copy process took under 10 minutes. I was holding the S10 in my hand watching the whole thing. Then I verified the 291GB copy was successful. This speed blew me away. My S10's total internal capacity is 512GB for reference. Don't try to have a tech directly transfer such a quantity of internal data from phone to phone as it may take hours depending upon their equipment. Another time I intend to check the transfer time for PC to ArmorATD and another random external drive to ArmorATD to determine whether this is normal or if I just got lucky with the combination of the S10 and the ArmorATD.

This is, without a doubt, the worst disk i have ever bought. i Bought 2, with a 6 month difference. De second i bought, lasted 3 months, the first one, lasted less then 2 years. Both are in the trash bin. Complete fail.

I have used my 2TB G-Drive Armor for over a year now. It has seen duty in construction zones on barrier islands and it has yet to fail. I use it to store drone imagery tiles and massive amounts of GIS data. VERY RELIABLE!!!

Portable, rugged, fast, and easy to set up and connect to my Macbook. Increased my storage exponentially. It is lightweight, and the transfer speed is quick! With 1 TB of storage, it should take me a while to fill up this storage device! The rubber bumper means I can throw it in my bag and not worry about it breaking or getting damaged.

I got this to back up family photos that are in the cloud. It's durable, easy to use and weather resistant. I'm not really worried about it getting damaged as we are keeping it at home, but can't be too safe I guess. It synced to my computer easily and backed up fast.

Great hard drive. It is very compact and light weight.It is a perfect hard drive for working on the go. It's fast and durable. I needed a external hard drive to back up my files from my computer. This has become my favorite portable drive . Its pretty fast and I've transferred a lot of data from my laptop, freeing up space and I have all of my important docs at my fingertips with lots of free space left over. The external edges are cushioned,has a rubber bumper to withstand a long fall onto a hard surface. It is ready to go with Mac and also compatible with Windows via reformat.The greatest feature for me is the USB-C connector which is very easy to use,The connector is also protected by a silicone cover that's very easy to put on and off. This one provides enough memory space with 1 TB and durability for traveling. It is very responsive and most of all well made.100 % satisfied!!

I am very happy with the SanDisk professional G-Drive ArmorATD. It was very easy to connect to my MacBook Air. I am happy to have this option to make sure my hard drive is backed up and it works with Time Machine on my Mac.

It is a great SDD external drive! It is extremely fast! A full 4k movie copies in just minutes! It is also rugged, so I can take it with me wherever I go! More than enough speed for me! And I'm not warried that it's going to break as it's so well protected.

Portable hard drive is a good size to carry. Case is made from sturdy aluminum with thick rubber on edges. This is great for keeping ports clean and gives the drive extra protection during accidental drops and rough handling. Drive did not show up on Windows PC, but worked immediately on Macbook. Transfer speed was good and having drive to backup files will be convenient. Having documentation with drive would be good to reformat for Windows.

I received a few days ago the SanDisk Professional 1TB G-DRIVE and it the perfect Hard Disk Drive to save your most important files, data, pictures etc... In the package you will find the HDD itself and two cables, one USB-3, USB-C and one USB-C, USB-C. This is very handy because you do not need to buy extra adapters depending on your computer. The bring up is more than easy, just plug it!!! If you have a windows system or a chrome book you need to format the disk preferably in NTFS for very big files. The speed is there, it takes seconds to copy most of your files. The real big plus of this HDD is its robustness, it is not afraid of a bit of water or falling in the ground. It makes it ideal to save you most important data. I copy all my kids pictures and movies and all other important files on this disk. If you are looking for a very reliable and robust HDD, I recommend this one.

This drive is very tough indeed. This is actually the second one of these drives I have bought. Both have been above exceptional for durability. The speeds are what you would expect from a USB 3.2 drive, in other words very reliably fast. Please note that your computer needs to have a USB 3.2 port in order to maximize these speeds, but with that said, even with USB 3.0 or 3.1 the speeds are still exceptional. If you are looking at buying this drive, it is a solid choice and you will not be disappointed.

Not much to say as a hard drive is a hard drive. Rating by quality and speed, this hard drive performs very well compared to others. The rubber bumper feature is a great feature to have if you are going to be traveling with it. All round a great hard drive and I would definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you are going to be constantly traveling with it.

This is definitely built to travel! My husband as an IT professional likes to carry around a private drive while he travels to store our home photos and videos til we can get it back to our home servers. He loves the tough exterior and the quick upload and download times from his drive

Great drive for the price. Did not come formatted so had to look that up (which was unusual since all the drives I have bought in the past were fine). My plan using this as a wildlife photographer is to keep it in my backpack on trips so that after a day of shooting I can transfer my memory card to this drive using a laptop.
