Needs a new cable to use with new MacBook Pros
It DOES work for new MacBook Pros. BUT... not with the supplied cable. If you connect it USB-C to USB-A (using a dongle) it will format. Or buy a decent Thunderbolt USBC - USBC cable and it works perfectly. Like the Cable Matters one I have. Bit lame not to supply functioning cables with the drive, but hey ho. It works and it's great.
Best External Drive!
I have an older Mac laptop with only 128GB of storage. I haven't been able to upgrade to the latest iOS for quite some time. Since I couldn't afford to buy a newer MacAir or MacBook, I decide to purchased a G-Drive and make it my startup hard drive. Now I've been able to download and install iOS Monterey.
