Beware of the Cable

The headphone works well (4). But, -1 because I'm not too thrilled with the cable. 1. The plug that goes into the headphone is the small one similar to what Bose headphones use, BUT, it is grooved so that it's proprietary. I thought I could just plug my regular headphone cable in, but no... it doesn't fit. 2. The plug that goes to the device is the BIG plug. It doesn't fit laptops, etc, which I think is 3.5mm. I ended up having to buy an adapter, because it's cheaper than buying a cable.

Amazing headphones for those who want to hear everything

These are fabulous headphones. The sound is clear, dynamic, and impressively neutral without sounding flat or lifeless. It represents the entire frequency range exceptionally consistently, making everything from bass to highs easy to hear and enjoy. The sound is non-piercing, and fairly non-fatiguing, making them easy to listen to for long periods. Open, spacious, and honestly, just about perfect. The pads are also different (softer) than their cheaper models (which you shouldn't even consider honestly as those sound terrible and feel horrible to wear), making these far more comfortable. The break in quickly. The cable is annoying and I recommend replacing it. It is a proprietary 2.5mm twist lock in the headphones end, and an odd 1/4" jack on the source end of the cable instead of the normal 3.5mm jack. It comes with an adapter, but instead of going from 3.5mm to 1/4' which is small, compact and convenient (and typical), they go from the huge 1'4" jack to the 3.5mm, which ends up with a heavy lump in the cable that is impossible to comfortably tuck into a pocket, and also adds weight and strain to a 3.5mm port once it is hanging off of it. This makes even less sense when you realize these have no need for an amp at all (the only common connect that really uses 1/4" jack). I assume they're trying to push people to buy the extra, more sensible cable for 599 off their site, which adds 20 bucks to the cost. So yea, the cable is absurd in every aspect but everything is great. Better than the 58x in my opinion. Less clamp too.

Decent open back HD559 headphones, similar to HD558

Great set of open back headphones. Purchased these because I already have a set of HD558's and wanted another set for someone else in my household. These HD559's sound pretty similar to me. I wanted the open back so the user would be able to hear ambient sounds while using the headphones; this feature works perfectly.
