I am a photographer that shoots video when asked by a client.  I recently purchased this Sennheiser MKE 440 on camera mic to be used on my R5 camera.  The reason I chose this mic from others is because this is a Spatial Microphone, it will capture sound from all around, and I like that, especially if I am shooting a wedding reception and there are sounds all around me, as it makes You the viewer "in" on all the action.  I don't mind that the cord is permanently attached to the mic, I actually like it.  

Also, if You are an interviewer that does not need to be "in" the video, you can ask questions from behind the camera, the mic will pic up your voice and the person being interviewed can answer, so you can have a hands off approach.  I recently worked a Quinceañera and the mic was great, I went outside to capture some B-roll and it was breezy with slight wind, this is where I knew I would need the dead cat accessory for the mic.  I am very happy with the audio quality of this mic.  Perfect Choice! A+

I use this to film marching bands from the stands. It provides excellent noise rejection from the crowds around me while picking up the band exceptionally well.  However it is a very narrow stereo image - as you can see the capsules are quite close together.  Overall for field use, particularly marching band, it's a great mic.  Tough as nails. Would buy again if this one gets crunched. Attaches easily and securely to the hot-shoe on the Canon T3i.  3.5mm minijack for audio out to the camera.
