I previously wrote that this product didn't work. I now must apologize as the problem was an adapter I was using in 
my audio chain.

It really does work!

This is the best (and reasonable cost) solution I have found to get line level audio out of a standard mixer into an iOS device for the marriage of quality audio during live video recording.

For some reason using the USB dongle (yes, an official apple dongle) and trying various methods and mixers and interfaces with USB bus audio, I was always able to record using an audio-only app (as for a podcast recording), but NEVER would it work while recording video no matter what video recording app I tried. I found several online forums with people who had the same problem and tried every solution offered with no success. Almost every youtube video I watched only referenced podcasts and not video recording.

Finally I am able to use a standard mixer with wonderfully familiar controls and headphone monitoring and I can push quality audio into an iOS device while recording video.

it works, apology!

Nothing but hum and noise as soon as it is plugged into the device. (I tried on iPhone and iPad). I tried feeding it a line level and I also just tried not attaching anything to the other end just to see if what I was sending from the mixer was causing a problem, but it did not matter.
