BRIAN T : Is this compatible with Nikon D3400?
BRIAN T : Why isn’t this compatible with Nikon D60?
Shopper : Is this lens going to fully work with the d3000?RICHARD I : Sorry, I don't knowGLEN A : Yes, the Sigma 100 - 400mm lens will work on your Nikon D3000 because the Sigma lens has a focus motor built in.ALICIA S : I think it will. I used this lens on a Nikon D-7200 (non-full frame) to take some great polar bear photos. Actually, because the D-3000 is not full frame (relates to camera sensor size), you will get ADDITIONAL magnification. When used on a D-3000 this lens will effectively be 150-600 mm. Check with any knowledgeable photo person if you don't believe me.ROBERT H : Actually, being that your camera is a cropped sensor, APS-C, the effective focal length will be equivalent to 150-600mm on a full frame. Ow as to being fully functional on your d3000, it works well on my d7200 and Z6/ZFtZ. If your camera works with any Nikon AF-S lens, it should work with the Sigma.DOUGLAS Z : Greetings from Maine, I love the Lens and can be handheld even with arthritic hands an wrists. I'm 72 years old and use a tripod as often as I can. I photograph birds mostly. I shoot with a Nikon D-750 and am not familiar with a d3000. I love the lens. D.Z.Danielle B : The d3000 isn't full frame, so it's going to lose some length

Gr8 lens Sigma 100-400 for Canon EF

Lens is absolutely great. My first Sigma lens. I'll be looking into purchasing more Sigma lenses. The 100-400 is sharp wide open at 400mm, what more can ask of a lens.

Great lens!

I sold this for the nikon 80-400mm because i wanted a nikon zoom. What a mistake. This is better in almost evrey way than the nikon variant. lighter, faster and as sharp. Just buy this!

Affordable option

Excellent "beginner" zoom lens for travel. I used it on a subarctic trip and captured some of the best images I've ever taken (the subject matter was amazing, so that helps). As other reviews note, it's not the fastest lens, but it's also not the heaviest for its size and it's affordable as far as lenses go, so it was an acceptable trade-off. (A comparable I was considering was about $2K.) The kit was helpful, too, and I made good use of the filters. I look forward to bringing this lens on my future adventures!

Big Lens

I am thrilled with the product. Lens is a little heavier than I thought, but so far it looks great. I will take it out for a spin soon.

A Steal At The Price For Nikon Z Camera Owners

This is actually quite a good telephoto zoom lens. Sigma has definitely upped their game in the last several years. I bought this lens instead of waiting around for Nikon to release their promised 100-400mm for the Z cameras. The Sigma is quite sharp with low distortion, built well, fairly light and compact, and it works on both my Nikon Z6 and my Nikon DSLRs.

Oldy but a goody

I went into the adorama showroom thinking I’d buy a used copy of the Canon 100-400 L ii lens, or a new copy of the Tamron 100-400, but after talking it through with the staff, I decided to give an open box copy of this lens a shot. So far I’m very pleased with the sharpness and the autofocus on my EOS RP is quite snappy. I’m writing this review because two of the key complaints against this lens were its low variable aperture and its slow autofocus. I’m curious how it will perform when I purchase my R5 in a couple of months, but I’m assuming that it work even better on that mount.

Great all-around lens!

I love this lens! It is the perfect mix of zoom for a perfect all-around lens. The quality is very good for the price and overall I think it is an awesome value. I will continue to purchase these lenses for my company.

Very good value, but heavy.

This is a good value for the money. It is heavier than I expected, so plan on buying a collar for mounting it on a tripod. Relying on the camera's tripod mount will result in a highly unbalanced setup. I have used it with both my Canon Rebel T5i and Canon M6 mirrorless (with an adapter) and it works well on both.

Great Value On A Quality Lens!

This is the first non Canon lens I have and I am very happy with my purchase! Image quality is excellent. My only negative comments would be that it doesn't come with a case and has no option for a tripod collar. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Ive attached a photo of a red tailed hawk in flight.

Oops........

Loved the lens, but I have resold it already as it was way to heavy for me to shoot without a tripod or monopod. Pictures were awesome.

Excellent quality for the money

This lens has a excellent build quality and it is sturdy enough for the wildlife and bird photography. The optical stabilizer in the lens allows me to take a good photograph without a tripod. This is a contemporary lens and you cannot compare with the quality of branded telephoto lens. This lens solves my purpose and I am very happy to buy this lens for a better deal with compared to costly branded telephoto lens.

Another Winner From Sigma!

This is a great lens for Nikon. I'm using it on a D7500 and couldn't be happier with the results. I like the colors from this lens. In the past, I have used the Canon 100 - 400 mm and the Nikon 80 - 400 mm and I feel the image quality from this Sigma is on par with those lenses for 1/3 the price. If you are on the fence, just do it.

Not a great lens in my expirence.

The lens was foggy after about a day of use and even after programing the lens as recommended by the manufacturer with the lens programmer tool it still had soft and foggy focus. The return process was easy and free so that was great! The optical stabilization of this lens is not very good as well. I will not be purchasing another one due to my expirence with the first one but Adoramas Costomer service is fantastic!

This is a great lens

I have only used Canon lenses in the past, but I am extremely happy with the quality of this Sigma lens. It is extremely sharp throughout it's range and is light enough to hand hold. I highly recommend it.

I really really wanted to love this lens!!

I really wanted this lens to work with my Sony a7iii. Really a lot! I tried everything people said on the reviews. Jumped through all the hoops. I updated the firmware on the mc11 and lens. That helped big time. I set all the camera settings that reviewers said would help. But, sadly, it was just too sluggish for me. Glitchy. Not smooth. I'm an outside, nature shooter. I go out to enjoy nature and relax with my camera. Even though the photos I got were pretty good, this lens felt frustrating to use, both in af and manual focus. Think I've been spoiled by my native Sony 90 macro which is so smooth and works so well with my camera body that I probably don't have the patience for slow, tedious workarounds. So, sadly, the lens was returned and my search continues a lens with some reach.

Autofocus isn't auto

I spoke to 2 different reps. Each on gave their opinion on lenses. I went with the one whom said the lens was sharper. Its not. When focusing, I need to manually do it at times b/c the autofocus won't. Disappointing, especially when they're not cheap.

Five Stars....I think

Just purchased the Sigma 100-400. After upgrading the software to match my camera, all seems to working well. have only shot a few dozen pictures so photo quality is tbd. Build quality is solid...also size and weight are great. looking forward to a day at the zoo to test it out.

Super lightweight, quality zoom lens

This lens is great! Very lightweight, so it’s perfect for traveling with luggage weight restrictions when you’ll still need to take some distance photos and hold the camera for longer stretches of time. The accessories pack is also a nice addition.

FEATURED REVIEWS

Just right for me!

By Leigh L.

I had rented a 150-600 and it was just. too. much. So I rented this lens and bingo! Perfect fit for my Canon 80D. It is light enough that I can carry it comfortably and, most important for me, I can use it hand held. I have read some reviews that say it has a bit of trouble searching with AF. I have not had that problem except under very sketchy scenarios where I'm pretty sure any lens would have a problem. Best advice is KNOW YOUR CAMERA! All 3 photos below are handheld at 400mm.

A Steal At The Price For Nikon Z Camera Owners

By John B.

While catering to the discerning needs of Nikon F-mount photographers, the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens emerges as a formidable player in the telephoto zoom category. This lens is a testament to Sigma's commitment to high-quality optics and engineering, offering a powerful combination of versatility and performance.

Crafted for the contemporary shooter, this lens boasts an impressive optical range, stretching from 100mm to 400mm, which allows for capturing a wide array of subjects, from distant wildlife to intimate portraits. Its advanced optical stabilization system is a boon for photographers, significantly reducing camera shake and enabling the capture of sharp, clear images even in challenging lighting conditions.

The lens's Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures fast and silent autofocus, which is crucial when the action is fast-paced or discretion is needed. The dust- and splash-proof construction of the lens means that it is ready for the rigors of outdoor photography, providing reliable performance in various environments.

Moreover, the Sigma 100-400mm lens is not just about reaching far; it also excels in its macro capabilities with a 1:3.8 ratio, allowing photographers to explore the finer details of their subjects with precision. The push/pull focal zooming feature adds to the user-friendly experience, making it easier to adjust the zoom quickly without losing focus on the subject.

The lens's construction includes elements that combat aberrations and distortions, ensuring that images are sharp from edge to edge. The color rendition is natural and vibrant, which is often highlighted in user reviews as a standout feature.

In summary, the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens for Nikon F is a durable, reliable, and high-quality choice for photographers looking for a telephoto lens that delivers both in image quality and functionality. Its powerful image stabilization, versatile focal length range, and macro function make it a top contender for anyone looking to expand their photographic capabilities without compromising on portability and build quality.
