The Sigma 105mm F1.4 Art lens truly lives up to its reputation as the 'Bokeh Master'. The sharpness is impeccable, and it performs exceptionally well in various lighting conditions, making it a superb choice for both professional and enthusiast photographers alike. The quality of bokeh produced by this lens is nothing short of artistic, with smooth transitions that enhance portrait photography beautifully. However, my overall satisfaction with the purchase was marred by the customer service experience at Adorama when I attempted to price match this lens with a lower price I found on Amazon shortly after my purchase. The process was unexpectedly cumbersome, characterized by what felt like intentional delay tactics and a somewhat passive-aggressive attitude that was quite off-putting. This experience left a lot to be desired and raised concerns about making significant purchases from Adorama in the future. While the product itself is fantastic, potential buyers might want to consider their options for where to make such a significant investment, based on customer service responsiveness and support

I've owned this for a number of years now and it's still a beast. This lens has held up over the years and is just as sharp as the day I first placed on my Sony camera.

This lens has produced outstanding photos in some challenging conditions, and feels very well built. Although the lens is heavy, it is easily managed with the attached accessory shoe (tripod / monopod - shoe)

Everyone knows this lens needs to go on a diet, so I won't say anything else about that part. We're using it in large catholic churches, attached to a Canon R7. What this effectively does is give us 170mm of reach BUT with 2 full stops of light MORE than you'd get on the RF 70-200. It is a game changer. I really don't use it that much at a reception, because my RF 28-70 is hard to turn away from, once I have off camera flash, but for what I do use it for, nothing can touch it.

By far the best portrait lense I own. The weight isn't much more than the 24-70 f2.8 art lense so it's not a problem for me.

I have been shooting with sigma glass for some time now and the 105mm f/1.4 is my absolute favorite. I have used this lens for almost everything, such as automotive, nature, wildlife, landscape and portraits, and it?s just amazing across the board. Whether you shoot wide open or stop it down, every shot comes out ridiculously sharp with excellent color rendering. After shooting my first portraits with this lens, it immediately became my favorite portrait lens. I quickly seen why so many deem it the bokeh master.

This is my first sigma lens and very happy with it. It is heavy compare to my Nikon 135 f2.0 dc lens which also my favorite portrait lens. I'm a hobbyist but when it comes to equipment I always go to the best as long as I can afford it.

Hi I bought mine last week at your store on the internet it looked like it was a used in good condition but when I came into the store to trade in my 120-300mm F2.8 DG HSM OS lens I heard it is an open box model so it was new not used and got a great price so I am happy with the deal I am now back in South America and fine tuned during my stay in NYC only by the feel and luck I forgot to buy the Sigma USB dock for F mount and sensor swabs to buy but I can do that by the internet soon. so I do recomendate this Bokeh master but it needs fine tuning . More than happy .it is sharp as hell or what ever you want to call it.

Have enjoyed the lens so far! It is a little heavy but able to hold and shoot without it being a problem. Can get a really narrow depth of field which is nice. Focuses quickly. No complaints.

This lens is exactly what all the other reviews say....it’s huge, heavy, slightly unruly on mirrorless cameras.....but man does it deliver!!! This thing is nice and sharp at f1.4, blows away backgrounds better than even our 135 f1.8 Zeiss I feel, but it’s size can make you think twice about using it in the first place. Using eye af with this thing works pretty well too, seems to stick well. It really seems to be high quality in build and glass and will give you high quality results. Just know what you’re buying (or have a good idea of the size and weight) and you will be very happy with this. Gives a rendering and feel unlike a lot of modern lenses, smooth, interesting bokeh, sharp wide open. What’s not to like?! Weaklings be forewarned.....

"There's a reason this lens is called the bokeh master. It's perfect for portraiture and isolating your subject from a busy background. I've never owned a more dreamy lens that is tack sharp wide open at 1.4."
Elevate Your Photography with the "Bokeh Master": Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Sony E, Black
Step into a new era of photographic excellence with the illustrious "bokeh master". Specifically engineered for full-frame sensors, this prodigious lens stands out with the longest focal length in the revered Art line's F1.4 collection. Dive deep into its capabilities, where unmatched clarity meets an enchanting blur to redefine your shots.
A Legacy of F1.4 Brilliance
Tracing back to the landmark introduction of the SIGMA Global Vision's 35mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art in 2012, the evolution has been nothing short of spectacular. With the 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art gracing the lineup, SIGMA now boasts of nine exceptional F1.4 lenses. Carefully crafted, each lens in this series is a testament to SIGMA's commitment to minimal optical aberration, extraordinary resolution, and stark contrast. This specific lens emerges as a showstopper, with both its sharp in-focus and dreamy out-of-focus areas, justifying its moniker - the "bokeh master".
Optical Mastery at its Finest
Navigating the realms of unprecedented F1.4 performance combined with mid-telephoto capabilities, this lens is a powerhouse. Featuring an intricate matrix of 17 optical elements grouped into 12 clusters, it's a marvel in prime lens design. Embedded with three FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and a singular aspherical lens element, it proficiently curbs axial chromatic aberration. This results in an impeccable resolution complemented by a significant volume of peripheral light. Be it a soulful portrait or the majesty of the night sky dotted with stars, this lens promises unmatched precision coupled with artistic flair.
Pushing the Boundaries of Peripheral Brightness
Achieving unparalleled light capture hinges on the diameter of the foremost optical element. The SIGMA 105mm F1.4 DG HSM / Art proudly showcases a robust 105mm filter diameter, making it a beacon of unparalleled peripheral light volume in its league. Skillfully minimizing vignetting while crafting a mesmerizing bokeh effect, it emerges as the quintessential lens for high-end portrait photography.
Rugged Design Meets Professional Expectations
Drawing inspiration from SIGMA's acclaimed Sports line, the 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art lens is encapsulated in an advanced dust and splash-proof structure. It is meticulously sealed at pivotal junctions like the mount connection and manual focus ring, ensuring durability in a myriad of conditions. To add, its front is treated with a user-centric water- and oil-repellent coating, making cleaning a breeze. Its high-speed autofocus, known for impeccable accuracy, ensures that photographers capture moments in their purest form, without compromise.
Innovative Features for an Enhanced User Experience
Moving away from conventional ABS plastic, this lens brings forth an avant-garde lens hood crafted from CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) - a testament to durability and lightness. The lens further boasts a removable Arca-Swiss tripod socket, compatible seamlessly with Arca-Swiss platforms and clamps. Accompanied by an exclusive protective cover, this lens promises convenience and versatility, catering to both tripod-based and hand-held photography aficionados.
Designed for Full-Frame Sony E-Mount Cameras
This lens version, specifically crafted for Sony's E-mount, aligns seamlessly with Sony's mirrorless camera range, boasting an identical optical design as its counterparts for different mounts. There's no need for the SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11, given the lens inherently supports features such as in-camera stabilization and lens aberration rectification. Notably, it also integrates with Sony's Continuous AF-a capability not accessible when using the MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11. SIGMA is charting a course to introduce E-mount iterations for all existing full-frame prime lenses in the revered Art series, spanning from 14mm to 135mm.
