Exceptional Lens, Bad Taste in the mouth Service Experience

The Sigma 105mm F1.4 Art lens truly lives up to its reputation as the 'Bokeh Master'. The sharpness is impeccable, and it performs exceptionally well in various lighting conditions, making it a superb choice for both professional and enthusiast photographers alike. The quality of bokeh produced by this lens is nothing short of artistic, with smooth transitions that enhance portrait photography beautifully. However, my overall satisfaction with the purchase was marred by the customer service experience at Adorama when I attempted to price match this lens with a lower price I found on Amazon shortly after my purchase. The process was unexpectedly cumbersome, characterized by what felt like intentional delay tactics and a somewhat passive-aggressive attitude that was quite off-putting. This experience left a lot to be desired and raised concerns about making significant purchases from Adorama in the future. While the product itself is fantastic, potential buyers might want to consider their options for where to make such a significant investment, based on customer service responsiveness and support

Great Lens

I've owned this for a number of years now and it's still a beast. This lens has held up over the years and is just as sharp as the day I first placed on my Sony camera.

This lens has produced outstanding photos in some challenging conditions, and feels very well built. Although the lens is heavy, it is easily managed with the attached accessory shoe (tripod / monopod - shoe)

Worth the price, worth the heft!

Everyone knows this lens needs to go on a diet, so I won't say anything else about that part. We're using it in large catholic churches, attached to a Canon R7. What this effectively does is give us 170mm of reach BUT with 2 full stops of light MORE than you'd get on the RF 70-200. It is a game changer. I really don't use it that much at a reception, because my RF 28-70 is hard to turn away from, once I have off camera flash, but for what I do use it for, nothing can touch it.

By far the best portrait lense I own. The weight isn't much more than the 24-70 f2.8 art lense so it's not a problem for me.

Bokeh master

I have been shooting with sigma glass for some time now and the 105mm f/1.4 is my absolute favorite. I have used this lens for almost everything, such as automotive, nature, wildlife, landscape and portraits, and it?s just amazing across the board. Whether you shoot wide open or stop it down, every shot comes out ridiculously sharp with excellent color rendering. After shooting my first portraits with this lens, it immediately became my favorite portrait lens. I quickly seen why so many deem it the bokeh master.

Amazing piece of glass...

This is my first sigma lens and very happy with it. It is heavy compare to my Nikon 135 f2.0 dc lens which also my favorite portrait lens. I'm a hobbyist but when it comes to equipment I always go to the best as long as I can afford it.

The Bokeh Master in the House .

Hi I bought mine last week at your store on the internet it looked like it was a used in good condition but when I came into the store to trade in my 120-300mm F2.8 DG HSM OS lens I heard it is an open box model so it was new not used and got a great price so I am happy with the deal I am now back in South America and fine tuned during my stay in NYC only by the feel and luck I forgot to buy the Sigma USB dock for F mount and sensor swabs to buy but I can do that by the internet soon. so I do recomendate this Bokeh master but it needs fine tuning . More than happy .it is sharp as hell or what ever you want to call it.

The gravitational pull of this thing is incredible....,

This lens is exactly what all the other reviews say....it’s huge, heavy, slightly unruly on mirrorless cameras.....but man does it deliver!!! This thing is nice and sharp at f1.4, blows away backgrounds better than even our 135 f1.8 Zeiss I feel, but it’s size can make you think twice about using it in the first place. Using eye af with this thing works pretty well too, seems to stick well. It really seems to be high quality in build and glass and will give you high quality results. Just know what you’re buying (or have a good idea of the size and weight) and you will be very happy with this. Gives a rendering and feel unlike a lot of modern lenses, smooth, interesting bokeh, sharp wide open. What’s not to like?! Weaklings be forewarned.....

A keeper

By Donald F.

Words fall short so included five snapshots. Many years ago when I started into photography, I enjoyed the Nikon 105mm manual focus lenses on my Nikon F (non meter prism) body. Today, I rarely use them. They have been replaced by the Sony a7III and this Sigma 105mm lens. if you are considering this lens of course take into account the weight (like a bottle of wine) and size. In my case I was used to heavy lens like 500mm 4.0 and 600mm 4.0 telephotos so that was not a problem. But for a ...

Dream lens. Nightmare on weight over time, but dream come true for images captured. To mitigate the weight I purchased a Small Rig carrying handle to attach to the tripod mount. This makes it easier to carry. Filters can be expensive. Surprisingly good for close up images.

When capturing the essence of a moment with unparalleled clarity and depth, the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG ART HSM Lens for Sony E stands as a pinnacle of professional photography equipment. Known affectionately as the "bokeh master," this lens is a marvel of optical engineering, offering the longest focal length in Sigma's esteemed Art line with an F1.4 aperture. Since the inception of the first F1.4 lens in Sigma's Global Vision series, the brand has consistently expanded its lineup, now boasting nine lenses that shine with F1.4 brightness, six of which are tailored for full-frame cameras.

The Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG ART HSM Lens is a testament to Sigma's commitment to minimal optical aberration and superior resolution, ensuring that every shot is imbued with stunning contrast and a mesmerizing bokeh effect. The lens's design is meticulously crafted to deliver satisfaction to the viewer's eye, whether focusing on the razor-sharp details of the subject or the dreamy quality of the out-of-focus background.

This flagship lens of the F1.4 Art series is a powerhouse of optical performance, incorporating an impressive array of 17 elements in 12 groups. Among these, three FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and one aspherical lens element work in harmony to reduce axial chromatic aberration, resulting in images of exceptional resolution and peripheral illumination. The lens's prowess is not limited to portraits alone; its minimized sagittal coma flare makes it an excellent choice for astrophotography enthusiasts aiming to capture the intricate beauty of starry skies.

The Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG ART HSM Lens ensures exceptional peripheral brightness, thanks in part to its substantial 105mm filter diameter, which significantly surpasses other lenses in its category. This design choice not only minimizes vignetting but also contributes to the creation of a beautifully smooth bokeh, making it an ideal selection for portrait photographers seeking to elevate their work.

Professional specifications are evident in every aspect of this lens, from its dust- and splash-proof construction to its special sealing in critical areas, empowering photographers to confidently face diverse weather conditions. The front element boasts a water- and oil-repellent coating, simplifying maintenance and extending the lens's longevity.

The high-speed, high-accuracy autofocus system of the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG ART HSM Lens enables photographers to capture fleeting moments with precision. The lens hood, crafted from CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic), offers durability and lightness, while the removable Arca-Swiss compatible tripod socket enhances versatility during both handheld and tripod-assisted shooting.

For Canon users, the Canon mount version of this lens supports the Canon Lens Aberration Correction function, allowing for in-camera corrections that further refine image quality. Note that this feature's availability and the extent of corrections may vary depending on the Canon camera model.

This bundle enhances the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG ART HSM Lens experience with a comprehensive collection of accessories, including a 105mm CPL+UV filter kit to protect and optimize image quality, a flex lens shade for controlling light, a lens wrap for added protection, a cleaning kit for upkeep, a lens cap tether to prevent loss, a lens cleaner for spotless optics, and a PC software kit to assist in post-processing. This curated bundle ensures that photographers have everything they need to realize their creative vision with the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG ART HSM Lens.
