Shopper : Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 II DG HSM Autofocus Super Wide-Angle Zoom Lens, for Canon EOS Cameras - is this lens works on canon 6D?Miller B : I use this lens on my Canon 6D..I really like it. One of my favorite places to use it is in the National Museum of the US Air Force near Dayton Ohio. I can get pictures of large aircraft; even though, I cannot stand very far back.Donald S : The 6D is a full frame body, so the Sigma will work just fine. I use mine on the 5DIII. The lens is a bit pricey, but is excellent IQ.JONATHAN B : Sigma's DG lenses are designed for full-frame cameras like the EOS 6D. I use mine on the 5D2 and 5D3.TODD A : I've paired this Sigma lens with a Canon 6d for almost six months and use the combination extensively, primarily for interior real estate images. The lens has been very successful at that task and others. It's the only non-Canon piece of glass I own, and I am sometimes surprised how well it performs. The build is solid and the images are very sharp and rich. My only complaint is there is corner distortion between 12-15 mm.RAY M : Yes! I use it on my 6D for tight interior shotsCarol D : yes it does !
Shopper : what is the difference between this and the Art lens?JONATHAN B : It precedes the "Art" line. You can't use the dock to re-adjust it like an Art lens.PEGGY A. R : Sigma 12-24mm Sigma 12-24mm Art lens 1. Aperture Max f4.5-5.6 Max f4 2. Minimum Focus Distance 11.02" 9.45" 3. Diaphragm Blades 6 9, rounded Professional lenses have 9 or more blades & rounded blades form a shape closer to a circle. Rounded apertures make bokeh appear smooth and circular. 4. Dimension (DxL) 3.3x4.7" 4.02x5.18" 5. Weight 23.63 oz 2.54 lbWAYNE M : Usually an art lens has better glass and a usb port for ??. Maybe even better sealing?Miller B : It looks to me like the new ART lens is a constant f4. This one is f4.5 to f5.6. I am pleased with my lens. If I were buying today, I would probably consider the new lens, depending on the difference in price.
JAMES Y : I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?FRANK Z : i shoot this lens at the 12mm setting almost exclusively on a full sensor, great super wide this one gets it in when nothing else can, except a Voigtländer 12mm on a M9, focus this lens carefully.Walt F : I had the Sigma 10-20mm wide zoom (APS-C size) and it was a fine lens. I also have other Sigma lenses which are great performers. Now that I have a full-frame DSLR, the choices of a 12-24mm wide zoom was a natural. I have not been disappointed with the 12-24mm lens. Additionally, I shoot Canon, and Canon does not offer anything comparable in a L-Series lens. Hope this is helpful. Happy shooting.BRUCE T : Jamey... I LOVE this lens. It's an absolutely essential part of my camera gear. It has very little distortion and it's solid as a rock.DANIEL C : Simply put, among good quality lenses, it's the widest there is out there. Have loved it every day I've used it, and I've used it mostly for outdoor day time landscape photography.JOHN T : I needed a wide angle lens for my work. Sigma's 12-24 fit the size requirement perfectly. SIgma's lens are high quality and decently priced. It was recommended to me by another professional photographer who was very satisfied with it. Its great for weddings, landscapes as well as architectural photography.

Sigma 12-24

I was pleasantly surprised at the performance of this lens. It is crisp at all f/stops and focuses really smooth. I would highly recommend it for some great landscape and nature shots.

Great lens for landscape and weddings

I've been a professional photographer for about 14 years now and do a lot of wedding/portraiture but have been getting more requests for real estate work and landscape art. A great telephoto, wide lens was definitely necessary and I've been trying few different ones throughout the years. This 12-24 seems to fit the bill nicely. Not a lot of distortion but it's more noticeable when I'm using it in smaller rooms of houses. TAKE THE LENS HOOD OFF when zoomed wide (12mm-16mm) to avoid seeing the dreaded black ring around your image. It's not a pretty vignette. All my other lenses are f2.8 or lower but this lens is going to be used at higher f-stops for the most part so it doesn't matter that it's a 4.5-5.6 for me.

The Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 II DG HSM is an update to the 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 Ex DG ASP HSM, which has been a photographer favorite since it was first introduced in 2002.

Revisions to the lens include the splash-proof design, as well as the inclusion of one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass element and four of the company's new "F" Low Dispersion FLD glass elements to compensate for color aberration and provide high imagequality. FLD glass is the highest level, low dispersion glass available with extremely high light transmission and performance equal to fluorite glass.

The 12-24mm contains three glass mold elements and one hybrid aspherical lens for advanced performance and compact and lightweight construction. It also features Super Multi-Layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting, and a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) to ensure quiet and high-speed autofocus, while allowing full-time manual focus override. Its minimum focusing distance is 11 inches throughout the entire zoom range; its maximum magnification ratio is 1:6.4.
