Questions & Answers

Shopper : will this lens work for my canon 40d camera?JOE C : Yes, it should work on any APS-C Canon camera. Joe CSTEVEN M : I don't have a 40D, but use it on a Rebel XSi and it is a wonderful lens--it has become my "go to" lense for most applications.MICHAEL F : Yes, it will work perfectly with it. ROY S : Yes, if your camera accepts the EF or EF-S type lenses.PAUL E : Great Lens. It will work with all EOS cameras.CHRIS S : I'm using on my 7D & it works perfect! I couldn't be happier. It rivals the L series I have rented and is a fraction of the cost. It is designed for all APS-C Canons, so the 40d should be perfect.RICHARD T : This is a good lens for a Canon EOS camera. The lens is used on my Canon 40D. It should be used for daylight use or indoors with a flash or two. I don't consider this lens as a pro lens but a pro-sumer type, good for general application.
Shopper : there is the sigma 18-200mm FIX for canon 7D?EZEQUIEL T : Hi, I really don't understand what you mean by "FIX". I use it on the Canon 60D, and it "fits" perfectly. And I am sure it "fits" and work on the Canon 7D. hope this helps.WALTER B : I.m assumung that word is fit, and yes it will ,any canon with an APC size sensor, that includes the 7DKRISTIN D : I bought a Sigma 18-200 1:3.5-6.3II HSM for my Rebel EOS. I think my lens will work on a 7D, but I don't know what "FIX" signifies .MARGARET W : Not sure what you're trying to accomplish but I recently bought a Canon Mark II to shoot video with and even though the lens fits, because the Mark II is a full frame lens, the picture has darkened edges ( like a vignette). So if the 7D us a full frame camera, don't go with a zoom as low as 18. It won't be pretty.CHRIS S : I'm not sure how to answer your question. I'm not sure what the "question" is. I have a 7D & have been using my Sigma lens very successfully. If you want the 7D to "recognize" the lens as a Sigma with all it's parameters, then you may not be able to. The Canon Firmware would have to include it, similar to all the other Canon lenses. Sorry I can't help more, but I'm VERY happy with the lens and the marriage of the 7D & this lens.DEWAYNE W : By for the best lens I have in all around lens
Shopper : does this lens work on Canon EOS Rebel XSI?PETER M : I am using this lens on a Canon 7D. To the best of my knowledge you can use this lens also on a Rebel XSIJOE C : Yes, it works on all of Canon's APS-C sensor-size cameras. We like it for the range it gives for a walk-around lens when we travel. Focuses fairly close also.CHRIS S : It is designed to work on all EOS APS-c sensor Canon digital cameras according to Sigma. I use a 30D and have had wonderful results. If you have more concerns, search for the Sigmaphoto link for this lens. I hope this helps.WALTER B : I would assume so, long as it is an APS-C size SensorHENRY N : The Canon XSI is an APS-C sensor (see wikipedia for this). The Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM will fit APS-C sesnor Canon cameras. Look at review on dpreview and and look for max format size. I am using this Sigma lens on my APS-C Canon 60d camera and it works fine. CheersANDREW R : Yes, this lens should work on the Rebel XSi

Good value for the cost

I use the lens as my 'normal' lens; it's the one always on my Canon7D. Focus is sharp and the IS function works well. It's lighter than my old 10-200 with a filer size of 62mm vs 72mm. So far, I'm pleased with it (only used it for a month).

weighed, measured, came up lacking

I had higher hopes for this lens. The Sigma 17-70 is in my bag and is leaps and bounds better than this lens. The clarity just isn't there and I have to push my ISO in order to get the image. If it's not too late, I'm returning this lens and will do more research and save my dollars to afford a quality lens.

Perfect if you only have one lens

The optical stabilizer works beautifully, even at max zoom. This is the only lens I purchased (so far) with my DSLR. I didn't want to have to change lenses and potentially expose the sensor to dust. Perhaps later, I may want to get additional lenses for specific uses, after I've become more proficient. But this is the perfect starter lens, at a comparably good price.

switched from tamron 18-270 to this one

the price was right, and since I like to keep it to one lens when I travel , this makes a lighter , less bulky package of my canon rebel, without losing much telephoto , etc.

Very happy so far

I bought this lens to replace the very good Nikon kit lens. I wanted more zoom without having to change between the 18-55 and 55-200 and this fits the bill perfectly. So far the pictures have come out great with the limited amount I've been able to play with it so far. The construction feels sturdy enough, the auto focus is very quick and quiet and everything performs as expected. I'd suggest this lens to anyone looking for more zoom than their kit lens, or an all around travel lens.

Excellent travel lens for the money

This is my first non-canon lens. I am using it with T3i The Good - Solid build. Compact and Lightweight. Fast, accurate, and reasonably quite Auto Focus. Good IQ for the price. Zoom Range (29 - 320 for T3i) Outdoor closeups are great, it gives smooth background blur @200mm. The Bad - It creeps. It can be locked only at 18mm. Some stickiness in zoom mechanism at mid-range. F6.3 is a minor issue, It affects only if you are shooting in poor light with above 80mm zoom and Evaluative metering. Overall - Nice travel/walk-around lens.

Good carry lens

Designed exclusively for smaller APS-c size sensors A little soft at high end but all 18-200 lens share this problem. Wife uses this on her Canon 60d.

Great Lens

One wish is that it could lock at any desired Focal Length. The lens does creep to the higher focal length.

Saves from carrying lots of lenses

Used it from graduation. Great for finding who you want to take pictures of.

The Sigma 882-101 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM lens is ideal for travel photography with a compact construction and length of just 87.7mm.

This lens features FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) glass elements, which have the performance equal to fluorite glass and SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements providing excellent correction of color aberration. This Aspherical lens gives excellent correction for all types of aberration and distortion. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, ensuring high quality images throughout the entire zoom range.

Sigma's OS (Optical Stabilizer) system offers effective correction of approximately 4 stops, enabling easy handheld photography. HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet, high-speed auto focus and the inner focus system eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using the supplied petal-type lens hood and circular polarizing filters. The rounded 7 blade diaphragm creates an attractive blur to the out of focus areas of images.

What's in the box:

  • Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens
  • Petal-Type Hood (LH680-01)
  • Sigma Warranty
