It covers a lot of lenses. Its not perfect for everything but is the best all around zoom I have ever used in 30 plus years. It stops my familiy complaining about tripods and changing lenses on vacation.

This lens is wonderful. I bought it to replace my 55 mm standard lens. I never take it off my camera now. I use it for everything from portraits to nature. I am not as happy with the extreme closeups but otherwise it is fantastic. I will still invest in a macro lens for the close-up nature photos

I use the Canon series of bodies and have a few L series lenses. I bought this lens as a backup for my assistant to use however I tried it out in an emergency and was extremely impressed. This is a proper lens. Very sharp and produces excellent saturation of colours especially at night. I am about to buy another one actually.

I bought this lens for my Rebel XTi last month and have shot nearly 1500 photos with this lens. I'm amazed by the results ... Ultra sharp and beautiful colors. Exceptional lens with a great a range - wide angle to moderate telephotos.

I accidently dropped my camera with this lens attached onto concrete during my first outing. The protective haze filter I purchased with the lens cracked, but I cannot find anything wrong with the lens function and optics.
