Questions & Answers

Matthew L : Is this truly an e mount? and not a micro 4/3's.Gregory m : Yes, e-mount lens for Sony.LOI N : This Sigma lens comes in two mounts: one is E mount for Sony mirrorless cameras, and the other is Micro Four Thirds mount for micro 4/3rds cameras. Be sure to choose the correct mount for your camera before paying.SCOTT P : Sigma makes a version of this lens for both e-mount and micro 4/3's (I've owned them both). Just make sure you order the right one!JIA Y : This lens has two model. Make sure you choose the Sony E mount model that is for sure an E mount lens!MARTIN S : Yes.PETER G : Yes it is an e mount.Antonio P : I think they produce both, buth they definitely manufacture an E mount and it's one of my favorite lenses.KEVIN C : This is a good question. I checked out the review at DPreview on this series of lenses and they mentioned "Each of these lenses is also available in a fitting for Sony's E-Mount APS-C cameras, so the covering circle of the lenses is greater than that required for the smaller Micro Four Thirds sensors."DAVE O : Yes, it's an E-Mount, I use it on my Sony A6000. Great lens! Only drawbacks is the focus motor raddles making you thing something is lose, but that's just the way it is. I have won several awards using this lens. Hope this helps Matthew!BREEDLOVE, J : Yes, it is for a Sony E mount, will not work on macro 4/3's one of the best lenses you can buy for your Sony.YOUNGBUM S : Yes it's true. This lens for e-mount camera like sony a5000 or a6000.
david c : This lens does not have stabilizer and my a6000 doesn't either. May I ask if this lens is fast enough to take landscape pictures without a tripod?WILBERTO O : It depends on the amount of light you have available to work with. The lens is fast but you will need some kind of image stabilizer specially at night. There are some video stabilizers that might work as well. You can do it the old fashion way, use the self-timer option and hold your breath so you are not moving meanwhile the camera takes the picture. Here are some of the image stabilizers available at Adorama. http://www.adorama.com/searchsite/default.aspx?searchinfo=video+stabilizer Thanks for shopping at Adorama.ADAM F : absolutely. I use it primarily for landscape shots. Once you hit low light situations, you may want a tripod to utilize a higher apeture. I've gotten decent quality shots with it down to say 1/80s or so, but I never think of the lens as not fast enough for landscape. Where it does become limited is narrow depth of field shots or astrophotography (which I do a lot). the focus ring is infinite, so you have to use an odd combo of the focus peaking and ultra high ISO, focus, be careful not to touch the sensitive focus ring, then back your ISO way down. For the price, it's a pretty good landscape lens for the sony mirrorless stuff.PETER S : At f2.8, it's a fast lens. I keep it with me for when a wide vista opportunity comes up.JIA Y : This is a wide angle lens. As your shutter speed not slower than1/30, theoretically you can get a sharp image hand held. But if you shake a little bit, then even 1/125 shutter speed you would get blurry.FELIPE J D : I have experienced good results while handholding this combination. The good thing is that you can boost the ISO a bit and allow for higher shutter speed. If you are going to shoot with the aperture stopped down, you may need to have tripod for longer shutter speeds. I think you will have to experiment and see what combination of aperture, shutter and ISO works for your needs.LOI N : If you have your A6000 shutter speed at 1/125 or faster, then you don't need a tripod for landscape pix.ROBERT S : On APS-C format it's equivalent to 28mm on 35mm. The rule of thumb is the slowest shutter speed equals the focal length (1/25). Consequently, it's very hand-holdable. You could carry a monopod for extra stability and it is also a defensive weapon against varmits & snakes.WILLIAM G : First question is why no tripod for landscape when all good photographers use a tripod for landscape thereby letting you use a tiny aperture (DOF critical for landscape) resulting in a slow shutter speed. Still, ignoring that, it all depends on the light situation. In good light, you can stop down to f14 or higher and still have a fast enough speed but on a darker day or near sunrise/sunset you might have to open up a little more and lose some DOF.ANTONIO S : Yes. It is a wide angle and the motion problems are far less than with a telephoto.
KARN N : can I use this lens with a7 mark2? the camera still 24mp if I use this lens?PAUL L : Ok, so I have learned something about cropping to reduce vignetting in other sensors. Thanks.PAUL L : The lens should have nothing to do with the megapixels of the sensor in the camera. I am not sure what you mean by "a7 mark2". The lens is top notch.JIA Y : I only used it on my NEX-6. This is a ASP-C lens. That means if you use it on A7 full frame camera, you only get 2/3 resolution . As the A7 Mark II is 24M, you will only get 16M if you use this lens.ALBERT L : Yes - you can use this lens with any A7 camera, but you will have to run the camera in crop / APS-C mode. I don't have an A7 series camera, so I don't know what will happen if you run the camera in full frame mode. For most APS-C specific lens, there is vignetting that you will see at the edges. The one exception I have heard about is the SEL1018 which is supposed to work between 12 and 18mm on the full frame cameras. Don't know about this lens, though.DEON VAN DER M : Yes, to both questions.

Great lens and priced right.

The Sigma 19mm f/2.8 DN Art lens was a great buy. The price is reasonable and I find the images very sharp. It has proven to be a great compliment to a Sony a6000. Perhaps I should consider the others in the same line.

Nice lense/good everyday width

Received the Sigma 19mm lens, it is a good wide lens, wide enough, but not too wide, for everyday shooting. Size is compact enough to fit well on a Sony a6000 and easy to carry around.

Light, fast, and crisp. Big Bang for little money, buy this lens.

Excellent sharp lens. Versatile as it gets for one prime. Landscapes, group portrait, selfies, etc.. AF works great on my Sony a6000, very light. Only drawback is no aperture ring, but not a big deal at this price

Great lens for Sony A5100

I wanted something fairly compact yet bright enough for low light situations. The build quality of this lens is top notch. No complaints at all about the fit and finish. It actually feels/looks better than my 1.8 50mm Sony lens in my opinion. So far photos i've captured are GREAT. It renders warmly on the Sony sensor and I actually like that it has its own personality in that regard. I like this lens enough that i'll likely buy the rest of the lineup for my A5100. I'm only dinging it 1 star because there is noticeable distortion in RAW images. It's corrected easily in Lightroom...but it's there. The sample photo i'm attaching isn't necessarily to showcase the quality of the optics, moreso to showcase the low light capabilities of the lens. F4.0 ISO 800 in a fairly dimlit space (Legoland in Michigan). Overall i'd say this lens can't be beat for the quality results. The price is merely a bonus. I wish i'd purchased THIS lens before the prime 50mm Sony lens.

Quick, flexible, light

The Sigma 19mmf/2.8 DN ART lens has become my standard lens as of lately. I bike around Manhattan and having an easy to use, quick, and light-weight outfit like this is a must. The only negative point (and one star down) is the focus ring, which takes some getting use to (for me, anyway). But considering the price, i think you get a lot of lens for the money. I took the pics this morning in Inwood on upper Manhattan.

I'm glad I kept it

When I unpacked the lens and checked front and rear elements, it looked good. I took a dozen shots using my Sony a6000. The images were terrible-good in center but edges looked unusable. I considered returning it but then decided to use ROR Mist on front and rear. Wow! What a difference-this lens is VERY usable. I'm glad I kept it.

Excellent, and inexpensive wide prime for E mount

Only had this for 2 weeks; but I was shooting a Samyang 12mm f/2.0 Manual lens previously here are my findings: 1-The lens has a well built feel to the hand, 2-It's lightweight 3-The mount to my alpha 6500 was really tight, almost too much 4-It's a bit soft out at the edges at f/2.8, but nice and crisp in the center. Other than that this is a significant up grade to the Samyang. And less money too.

Excellent alternative to the Sony 20mm F2.8

This lens blew me away. The images it renders are very sharp across the frame and it costs much less than the Sony option. The only limitation is that continuous focus only works with 5 center focus points and not the entire 179 focus points but contrast detect is snappy on the Sony a6000 so it is not really much of an issue.

Using on a full frame Sony a7

I stumbled on this lens when searching for a reasonably priced wide angle for my Sony a7. There's pronounced vignetting in the corners but crop to 8x10 and it's pretty much eliminated. Vignetting is diminished and softened some by removing the baffle on the back of the lens. I purchased the lens used from Adorama. It arrived as if it were new. Very pleased.

Unbeatable for the price

The only inconvenience is it has no button to go use manual focus. It's great in every other aspect, though.

Super Nice Lens

I like this lens and can recommend to anyone looking for a one in this focal length. It deserves 5 stars even with the cons based on overall quality and price. Great value for the money. Pros: - Reasonable f2.8 wide open still good for low light work - Small and light weight - Good price - Good autofocus - 19mm focal length good for many situations Cons: - Auto focus is very good on Sony A6500, but slightly slower than many Sony lenses when used in video mode - Makes a rattle noise when off camera or when camera is turned off, but is normal and a result of the auto focus design

Not as fast as other lenses out there, sacrificing a little functionality of the a6000, like the fast auto focus... Overall, very good lens, would definitely recommend

OK wide angle prime if you have to have autofocus...

The lens itself is OK and it operates smoothly.,But I found its performance no better than that of the 2 zoom lenses I already have that cover this range. Granted, the max aperture of 2.8 gives a little advantage over the 3,5 of my faster zoom. Shooting in good light, though, I can't ind any significant advantage for the Sigma And for shooting in low light I' suggest the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm f/2, a fully manual lens, but easy enough to use on a Sony6000. It provides incredibly sharp images, much more light-gathering ability and a much wider field of view. I wanted a lens for big landscapes and night photography and find the Samyang/Rojinon lens much superior for my needs. And for only a modestly greater outlay.

fantastic. buy it.

amazing optics. people say great value but this is on par with my zeiss 32mm as far as image quality and optics. great lens. if you're not familiar with focal lengths, 19 on an apsc equals about a 29mm and decently wide for landscape pictures and kind of close group photos. if I had to pick only 1 focal length this would be a good one.

Good lens for A6k

I am impressed with the quality of the images that I have taken with this lens. This was a prime lens upgrade from the kit lens that came with the camera. I downgraded 1 star because the lens hood wil not stay on the lens when in use. The attachment is a very loose affair and I belive Sigma should be embarrassed with this design! I ordered a replacement hood for the lens, because I feared I would loose the original hood at a critical time. The Sony lens hoods are wonderfully made and stay on th Kit lens very well. I have Tammy and Nikon hoods that fit very securely with out any trouble at all! Sigma needs to improve this problem so I don't have to tape the hood on when I use this lens.

Awesome lens fast & excellent focus

Works good in Auto setting, but shines when you use manual settings 2.8 with a fast speed. Continuous focus dots are in the center but expands when you use single frame shots. I cant get a bad picture with this lens. Its my walk around lens, still small and other than the Zeis 16-70 at $1K this is the only other high quality lens for APS-c e mount.

I've used this lens with my Sony a6300 and found it to be a terrific match. Shooting videos indoors worked great, smooth focusing. I have not noticed the clunking others have described. For the money, it is a great value!

The Sigma 19mm f/2.8 DN ART Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black) is a wide-angle prime lens for Sony E-mount cameras. Its 35mm focal length equivalency is 28.5mm and its minimum focus distance is 7.9" (20 cm). Its f/2.8 maximum aperture is ideal for shallow depth of field imaging and allows it to maintain sharpness in low light situations. An inner focusing system means the lens does not extend when focusing and its newly developed linear autofocus motor is accurate and quiet.

Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting and provides sharp and high contrast images even at the maximum aperture and with three glass molded aspherical elements, aberrations are kept to a minimum. The result is accurate color definition and sharp imaging across the frame.

Sigma 19mm f/2.8 Features

 • Wide-angle 19mm prime lens for Sony E-mount cameras with a 28.5mm focal length equivalent
 • Maximum aperture of f/2.8 is effective in low light situations and able to create lovely shallow depth of field images
 • Inner focusing system and linear autofocus motor for efficient, smooth, quiet and accurate focus
 • Three glass molded aspherical elements and Super Multi-Layer Coating minimizes aberrations and reduces flare and ghosting for sharp, high contrast images
 • A brass bayonet mount has both high accuracy and durability. A special treatment to reinforce its strength is applied to the surface giving it greater strength and making it highly resistant to long-term use
