Questions & Answers

KAREN H : is this lens compatible with Nikon D500?
Mike B : How does this lens compare to nikon 24-120 f4 which do you recommend to go with nikon d750 ?KENNETH R : Semi pro shooter here. I owned the 24-120 and opted to sell it in lieu of the Sigma and have never looked back. I find the optical and build quality of the 24-105 up to par with first tier pro Nikon lenses. The AF is slower than the Nikon but only mildly so. If you do not have a particular need for the added reach of the 24-120, this is a great alternative. Note that the Siggy is quite a bit heavier. I like heavy lenses so not an issue for me, but for some it may be a detracting factor especially used as an all around carry lens. I won't comment on the d750 specifically but am using the lens on FF bodies.DANIEL O : Have not compared with Nikon 24-120, but I am happy with my purchase of Sigma 24-105 for a Nikon d610. It is very solid and sharp in my early use. Drawbacks are weight and some vignetting; not major concerns for me. I don't think an extra 15 mm at this range is a significant advantage, especially considering the price difference.MARK F : Hi Mike, funny you should ask that question because we (my wife and I) own both. She likes the 24-120 because it has a bit more reach. I like the Sigma because the images are quite a bit sharper and I have done the AF fine tune on the Nikon. You can't go wrong with either lens though. I hope that helps you make a decision. Thanks, MarkFRANK P : I own the Signa lens and have not used the Nikon. The Sigma is very sharp, well built, and being stabilized helps with loss in speed at f/4. No complaints. You just need to decide if 15mm in extra length and the Nikon name is worth the additional $400. I do thing Nikon lenses are among the best.RICHARD K : Mike, I am a pro photographer. I have also used the Nikon 24-120 f4. For the lower price, the Sigma 24-105 is just a great lens! I shoot all sigma lenses. This lens is sharp, focuses well in low light and is plenty fast. You won't go wrong with this lens and you will save a bunch of money too! I shoot Nikon d700's. Looking to upgrade, but, not happy with the new Nikon offerings and don't want to spend $6500 on the D4. The d750 is too slow at 6.5fps for shooting sports. Also, I believe the sync speed is only 1/200 vs 1/250. So, not a fan of the d750 either.
Shopper : what is art lens?John M : I bought the Sigma after borrowing the Nikon. The image quality difference is slight but noticeably in favor of the Sigma. However if weight, zoom rotation, reach, and price are important I think the Nikon is a very worthy alternative at the currently discounted price.ANDREW R : "Art" is a product designation from the manufacturer.

Quick focus and very sharp !

Quick focus and very sharp ! I have Sigma 35mm f1.4 but now with Sigma 24-105 f/4mm, it would be great couple lens in my backpack. Order is delivered on time and in very good condition.

A Beast, but Worth It

Hefty, but worth it! It balances esp. well w/my Nikon D780, but also plays nice with my old D7200. Build Q is amazing, better than G lenses.

Great but heavy

Works really well though a bit heavy and may be slightly more geared to landscapes than portraits.

Great lens

This lens is very sharp! I find that I still prefer my 70-200 over this one, because it has better blur. But this lens is very convenient, you can use it inside or outside. Great lens.

Good travel lens to carry for handheld shots.

Good size and weight for handheld shots. Not as sharp as the 70-200 f2.8, but much easier to carry.

Love it!

1000xLOVE this lens! Sold my last Canon L series lens and replaced it with this far superior lens. First and foremost, SHARPER! Finally, my full lens package is 100% Sigma. One HUGE note... this Adorama listing says the 24-105 is in the gorgeous ART series, it is not ... nonetheless it blows canon out of the water

Sharp with some flaws.

Not a bad lens. Couple of things I don't like are the fact that it doesn't have a rubber gasket to seal it to the camera body and also the zoom rings turns the opposite direction from Nikon brand lenses. Not a big deal but muscle memory you know...

Wish I'd gotten it sooner

I am thrilled with this lens! I was reluctant because of the f/4 maximum aperture, but since I've gotten it, I use it as my walk around lens. It has superb image quality. I use mine on an APS-C and enjoy the extra reach.

Great lens

I’m very excited about this lens. I’m a Canon girl and recently bought my first full-frame camera. I went with this lens because of the reviews compared to the compatible Canon. So far it feels solid, focuses easy, and has a nice bokeh. Merry Christmas from me to me!

Love this Lens!

I purchased this lens to use with my Canon 7D Mark II. I had expected to by the comparable Canon L lens, but after reading the reviews, this seemed to be the better option. The lens is very well made and is clearly a quality product. AF is fast and extremely quite. The images are also razor sharp. This looks like a lens that will be my walk-around lens.

Have used this lens for several years. Very good images under many circumstances. Somewhat heavy and doesn't focus well in low light (to be expected.)

This lens has good online reviews for sharpness. My experience with it so far is that it meets expectations. An 18" X 24" enlargement with this lens and my full frame DSLR looks great.

Well built, but not up to par

I bought this lens to mate with a Nikon D750 as my first foray into full frame with "top notch' glass. Everything I read about this lens (including a rave review by a noted YT reviewer) said it was on par with its Nikon and Canon counterparts. I really wanted to like, even love, this lens, but after nearly 200 exposures, I just wasn't impressed. Built like a tank, this lens is obviously well put together, yet the images I got at 100% were soft at almost all focal lengths, and the CA was obvious. Know that this lens is heavy, big, and not fun to tote around. It and the D750 went back in favor of the Z6 and it 24-70mm f/4, and I couldn't be happier. I'm glad to see Sigma, Tamron, and the other third party lens makers are upping their game, but I'm not settling for "almost good" glass any longer. I always have to allow that I may have gotten a bad copy, but the weight and bulk of this lens stopped me from trying another. Keep trying Sigma.

A GREAT Lens

I have to admit that when I first tried the lens that I was disappointed. But, I worked with the dock for over a week to hone in on the settings. It was long work, tedious and very time consuming. In the end, though, the results were more than worth all the effort I put in. A lens that I had strongly considered returning turned out to be the lens I now consider my favorite for sharpness, contrast, clarity, and...well, everything. It IS heavy, but very, very solid. If you're looking for a razor-sharp lens and are willing to work to get that sharpness, this is the lens for you. I combine mine with the Nikon D850, and what a pretty combo they are. I've never gotten pictures close to what I'm getting now, and I go back to Hasselblads. I got both at Adorama, and the good folks there have been an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Nice images but a tad heavy

Good glass and makes very nice, sharp images. The lense is heavy so overall it feels a bit clunky but works well so I'm ok with that. The zoom ring is tight but the action is precise and it does not drop out when I am carring it so that I like.

Nice everyday carry lens

The lens is a good everyday carry lens. It's not the fastest but it is reasonably sharp and it's especially nice that you can fine-tune the lens with the Sigma dock.

Nothing but first class. Thank you Sigma!

I could not agree more with the review from the Nikon folks. This new lens line from Sigma is just outstanding. Now I own (3) ART & Sort lenses . The 50mm 1.4 is absolutely seller, and now the 24-105 all perfect right out of the box. If you are using Nikon full frame body's the lenses are perfect with absolut...

A great all around lens.

This lens is SUPERB! When you don't have time to mess with two cameras and your prime lenses, grab this one and KNOW you will be getting pure perfection! The lens is tough. I am former COMCAM so I am used to beating up my gear and this lens passes all the outdoor rigorous tests as do all my Sigma lenses. Of course, I don't take them out in a downpour or any other situation which would call for a weather proof case, but it has gotten sprinkled on and banged up A LOT without any reduction in p...
