Questions & Answers

ALEX P : Hello there. I'm looking to buy my first sigma lens. I was debating between the 20mm, 24mm and 35mm. I use a canon 6d and I do mainly portraits. I know that the 35mm lens would be amazing but I love bringing a new look to my portraits, so wide angle would be ideal. I also do low light neon portraits. So which one would y'all recommend?SHAWN M : 24mm is better for landscapes and a non standard perspective. 35mm is a classic view.AUSTIN M : I have the 24 and it is an absolutely amazing work of ART unto itself. I'm also on a 6D and the combination is fantastic, but I do a lot of landscape and low light stuff and very little portrait. It's worked for what little I have done, but you will be much closer to your subject than you are used to if you are currently in the 85-135 range. I have been told wide angle is not as flattering for portrait as a mid range lens due to the depth of field compression with longer focal lengths, but it looks pretty darn good to me.CHRISTIAN N : Definitely the 35. I use it for portraits all the time at weddings/in general. Also, check out Dustin Genereaux. He does neon portraits all the time and is awesome at itKEVIN W : 24mm is a go. Great for portraits, but you can make use of this lens for other photo projects, just in case.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?MARIE L : I read a lot of reviews for this lens and the equivalent Canon lens. The differences were minimal and this lens is half the price.BILLY M : I am shooting a documentary and find the sigma lenses to be perfect.Christopher L : Best lens for wide angle in my range already own 50 and 85 artEVAN W : giftPAUL A : Great value for great quality!STEPHEN S : Sigma has always been a great lens for me in the 45 years I've been shooting!Robert G : I have a 50mm Sigma HSM ART lens for my Sony mirrorless camera. It is absolutely amazing. So I am getting the 24mm for Canon for my Canon 6DSteve M : Looking for fast moderate wide angle. Positive reviews on DPReview astrophotography forum report the Sigma as better than Canon, for far less.Ashley S : Purchased for price and reputation with Sigma lenses. Very excited!

Great for the money

Pretty sharp, quick focus, low noise. Enjoy using it when I'm needing a wider view like landscapes or indoor property images

Great lens, too big and heavy for my needs

Just wanted to leave a review to mention that while I did end up returning the lens, I was absolutely totally impressed with it's capability. Beautiful photos, beautiful bokeh, well built, solid material. But bf advised it is huge. The pictures here seem smaller honestly than it looked in person, especially the length of the lens. Because of it's size it was too much for me to handle, especially given I do a ton of video content, so stability was a huge issue. FYI, Adorama was awesome about the return, nothing but professional and would absolutely purchase from them again.

Sigma 24 mm 1.4 lens

I have absolutely even enjoying it! I did find a small Knick on the front lens which I'm trying to see. About getting g repaired asap! First lens I've ever had this happen to, but over all the lens has been wonderful!

Make your subject jump off the photo.

I watch videos and read reviews to help me decide on purchases. Sigma and the Art Series lenses really have their act together. For many years I only used normal and telephoto lenses. One day I got my hands on a wide angle and got hooked. Stepping into digital, researched wide angles for the one that gives the most 'bang for the buck'. I feel I found it. Large aperture, sharp, quick to focus, bokeh (on a wide angle!). This lens has it all.

Great lens

(I?ve bought this lens for Sony and EF mounts) I?m primarily a singer/songwriter live streamer that does some content. I?m currently using 4 canon RP?s with this lens and others. There?s just ?something? about this lens. It?s super sturdy and just looks great. Very sharp and cinematic on 24fps. I like it better than all my RF ISM (the cheaper ones) primes. It focuses faster and quieter, too. I even like the look of this lens better than the giant/expensive Canon 28-70 L f 2.0 that I bought and sold. For what I do - it makes more sense to have 3-4 different primes on different cameras instead of one giant/expensive one. I am hoping Sigma releases all these on RF mounts. If they do I?ll probably replace most everything I have with more of these awesome Art lenses. One of my favorite YouTubers (for settings, reviews, advice) is Todd Dominey and his A camera setup is a Canon R5 and the Sigma Art 35 f1.4. I?m a fan! Thanks Adorama for the 60 days of free returns and quick shipping!

My indoors daily driver

I wasn't sure whether to get this or the 35mm. I ended up getting this one and love how flexible it is in indoor spaces. I also use it outdoors for landscapes and panoramas. I was concerned that it was too wide, but it really isn't. It sits on my camera most of the time.

Incredible Quality

Incredible lens - on my Lumix S5 for a day of wedding video coverage and I am stunned by the crispness, color and clarity of the video. This lens was on my S5 for about 75% of the day including the Ceremony, Toasts and First Dances. Focus spot on about 95% of the time - no problem tracking the Bride and Father all the way down the path and up to the front of the Ceremony area through changing lighting. Really impressed with the low-light capture. Never once did I use an alternate light source and filmed great clips - even the dancing, later on, outside at dusk. Only downside, and I mean only, is the weight and size - this is a big lens but for me the trade off for what I get into my S5 is totally worth it. This is my new "go to" lens for the bulk of my wedding filming days.

Amazing lenses for the money

As a professional photographer, my lenses are most important second only to my camera. As a canon shooter, I have shot canons L lenses for years. I began shooting with the Sigma art lenses 3 years ago and was thoroughly impressed. Tack sharp with little to no CA, these lenses are tough and look great.

Sigma Art lenses for the win!

This is my second Sigma Art lens that I purchase through Adorama. Although I haven’t had the lens that long, so far it’s been amazing! I’ve had both of my Sigma lenses calibrated to my camera. Love how sharp the pictures turn out and how smooth the bokeh is!

New favorite lens!!

This lens! I’ve been a pretty committed canon user - I have a few lenses and of coarse my camera body is a canon. But I secretly drooled over sigma and the more and more I heard others mention them I knew it was my next lens purchase. I decided on the 24 because I find myself wanting a wider view of my scene and can often be in tight spaces (like my kitchen). Let me tell you - this is my new favorite lens, it never leaves my camera, and it has blown my canon lenses out of the water! The images I get are so much better - the details, the colors, everything. If you are thinking about investing in this lens - donut! You won’t be disappointed I promise you!

Great Lens, but....

The one thing they could do better on this lens is seal it better. If you shoot a lot of waterfalls, the mist will eventually get in and fog the inside of the lens and Sigma doesn't warranty this. It will however, dry out on its own in a few days and work fine

Great lens

I have used the lens for a a couple months and it is awesome. The evening landscape shots are crisp and the 1.4 aperture lets tons of light in. The construction feels solid and the results have been outstanding.

Insane quality at a very reasonable price!

Took this lens on my 2 week honeymoon up the west coast. Amazing sharpness, and super quiet autofocus all the way through. Sigma has stepped up their products the last few years and are right on par if not better than canons L glass. This is a prime lens you need in your gear bag!

First non-kit lens purchased - is a keeper

Haven't spent a lot of time getting to know this lens, but what little time and experience I have had is great. The clarity is superb, and I expect this to be a wide angle lens I use all the time.

Far from perfect

I really wish I could give this more stars. My biggest gripe was that, out of the box, it was severely front focused. I was able to roughly correct for it in camera by maxing out the AF fine tune (I shoot Nikon). I understand that any lens, especially third party, may need a bit of adjusting, but this was way beyond any sort of pixel peeping perfection. Besides that, focusing was far from snappy. I used it for one shoot to test it out and ended up returning it. I should also note, as others have, that a lens of this build quality and price should have at least some level of weather sealing. Sorry Sigma, I’m sticking with Tamron for my third party gear.

not at all worth it. frustrating to use.

I have a 24-124mm F4 and 50mm 1.8 for my Nikon 5300 mount. I bought this because I needed something to take fast, sharp pictures like my 50mm but with a wider aperature so I didn't have to be in the next room when shooting indoors/low light. the problem with this lens is that the boca is so high and the focus always picks up the wrong target, so unless I take 10 pictures of the same thing or set it to sport, the picture doesn't come out any better than my F4 and for this type of shooting, that obviously won't work. its just no good.

Good for about two years

This lens was wonderful...for just under two years. After two years of use ( and not heavy use, primarily used for large wedding groups and dancing shots) the photos produced with this lens are unusable. Contacted Sigma and was rudely told it was because I was shooting at a high ISO (I was not, all photos were from 100-2000) and lenses cannot add grain. However, using this lens and my 50mm at the same settings in the same place at the same time the results are inarguable. Every photo shot with the Sigma produces a very grainy image now.
