This is a rugged and fun to use standard zoom, with fantastic optics. Bokeh is nice, the aperture control ring is something I use a lot after getting used to it, and it's heafty while still being perfectly easy to carry around. Maybe a little heavy for one-handed shooting but not bad. Very little color fringing, which is really nice. I have to say that the aperture ring works really intuitively on my Leica SL2-s where the mode switches to A automatically but it's annoying on a Panasonic where you have to fuss with the mode dial which defeats the convenience of it. It feels balanced on both the heavy Leica and the light weight Panny, so weight is fine either way. I've got the Leica 28-70 on preorder, though, and once I get that I'll get rid of this lens. I know I said it's not too big, but it's still much larger than the 28-70.

This lens is super sharp, relatively light, and an absolute workhorse! In comparison to the GM II, I'd say this is the move if you want to save yourself some money for practically the same quality.

Best Black Friday price in the Sigma 24-70 art ii lens. Love the lens on my A7iv for half the price of the Sony GM ii with comparable quality. The addition of the aperture ring is a necessity for professional video production.

Stunning image quality, beautiful bokeh, reliable auto focus but also very good on manual too. I use this lens for video paired with my FX6 and it's a excellent option for a documentary/event lens. It's light weight, the built quality is solid and the image render is beautiful. Highly recommended

I am a beginner photographer and recently upgraded to Sony a7iii. Bought this lens to complement the other recent purchase of Sigma 85mm 1.4 Prime lens, and overall loving this Sigma line of lenses. I have only tried this lens for a few shots here and there, and simply amazed at the photo quality. The f-stop adjustment ring on the lens is a great feature and giving additional flexibility. Would absolutely recommend this lens.

Great lens overall, I haven't used first version so I will not be able to compare with it. But build quality, features, sharp pictures and autofocus are great compared to Tamron g2 28-75. I am very happy with this lens so far, Sigma has upped their lens game recently.

The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art is the jack-of-all-trades and covers a focal range that almost any photographer must have in their bag. Its maximum f/2.8 aperture helps it excel for portraits, street, landscape, travel, event, and product photography. The compact design is great for vlogging, while providing features for larger video projects. This lens maintains the standard we are used to seeing from a Sigma Art lens, delivering incredibly sharp, clear optics with fantastic color rendering across the frame. It features a 19-element construction in 15 groups (6 FLD, 2 SLD, 5 aspherical), which suppresses chromatic aberrations and color fringing, resulting in amazing color accuracy and clarity through the entire zoom range.
The 24-70mm is widely considered one of the most popular workhorse lenses any photographer can carry, offering everything from a wide-angle field of view to a tighter crop to emphasize a particular part of the scene. Sigma has delivered its 24-70mm with a constant f/2.8 aperture and 11-blade diaphragm that produces outstanding bokeh across the focal range. Focus breathing is suppressed to help create a more realistic focus pull while recording video. Numerous coatings, such as a super multilayer and a nanoporous coating, have been applied to the lens elements to help minimize lens flare and ghosting and allow fantastic color rendition even in challenging light.

A new high-response linear motor actuator makes the focusing speed of the 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II lens three times faster than its predecessor. The minimum focusing distance has also been improved. It is now 6.7" (17cm) at 24mm, compared to 7.1" (18cm) in version one. At 70mm, the minimum focus is now 13.4" (34cm), compared to 15.0" (38cm) in version one. With improved magnification, 1:2.7 (wide) to 1:4 (tele) vs. 1:2.9 (wide) to 1:4.5 (tele) in version one. When you need to capture close-up details, this lens delivers fast, accurate performance across all ranges.

The barrel of the lens is equipped with an aperture ring with both click and lock switches, two customizable AF-L buttons, an AF/MF switch, and a zoom lock that prevents the barrel from extending while in use. With a water- and oil-repellent coating and a dust- and splash-resistant build, the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II lens won't let you down, even if the weather does.

Sigma uses acronyms to help users identify which type of camera each lens is compatible with. DG indicates that a lens is designed for full-frame cameras, while DN indicates that a lens is designed specifically for mirrorless cameras. DG DN means a lens is designed exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras, though it can still be used on a crop-sensor camera.
