Pros: lens is super sharp, construction is well made, feels high quality, comes with padded case Cons: I struggled with autofocus at times with the even with the wide aperture, very heavy, doesn’t balance well on Ronin RSC2 (balances, but fails to keep balanced during operation)

The best 35mm you can get. Yes there’s a little vignetting at 1.2 but I typically add a little in post anyway. It’s big and heavy but that comes with the territory of quality glass. It’s super sharp, great contrast, colors and AF performance. Extremely recommended.

Sharp wide open at 1.2! An amazing lens. People complain about the weight but it doesn’t bother me.

I’m a little concerned. Twice my camera alerted me that my lens was not attached when it actually was. Otherwise this lens is super awesome! The 1.2 aperture creates some great, high quality images. I also love the weight of this lens.

Simple an amazing lens! Performance wide open across the frame is fantastic. Beautiful smooth bokeh and well corrected aberrations. Autofocus is fast and accurate on my A7R iii and A9. My favorite 35mm of all time and I have tested everything available for Sony and even the Canon 35mm 1.4 L ii. nothing touches this lens!

I really love the way this lens draws. It's amazingly sharp across the frame with very little CA at 1.2. (Compared to my old Canon 1.2's) Auto Focus was fast and accurate, love all the GM like features on the lens like the Manual Aperture and Focus Hold buttons. The bokeh is dreamy and smooth. A very lovely lens for sure but not for me. It's just too big. I know I will never grab it except for an occasional artistic use. If you want the best 35mm lens for the e-mount, this might be it, but you have to be okay with the size.

So far this lens has provided excellent quality imagery in a variety of scenarios. It’s extremely sharp—the sharpest I’ve seen in some time. The bokeh rendering is beautiful and provides a nice 3D pop to subjects. Fringing is indeed present at 1.2, but it seems better than the two 35 1.4 counterparts. Heavy, but not unwieldy. I used it for some fast moving action shots yesterday and focus was pretty reliable.

First wide-angle AF lens with F1.2 maximum aperture for the full-frame Sony E-mount and L-Mount system. This lens enables a creation of artwork with astounding resolution and large bokeh effects, such as portraits that make use of a shallow depth of field. It brings the development concept of the Art line “pursuit of ultimate image quality” to the next level. While utilizing optical correction function inside the camera, aberrations that are difficult to post-process are thoroughly corrected thanks to the optical design and it thereby enhances resolution.
The "Art line in the age of mirrorless cameras" pursues ultimate performance as a large-diameter lens with a focal length of 35mm and also achieves a maximum aperture of F1.2. Three SLD glass elements and three aspherical lenses including a double-sided aspherical lens are optimally arranged in a lens construction of 17 elements in 12 groups. In addition to the optical design that makes use of the characteristic of the short flange focal length, it effectively takes advantage of the correction function inside the camera to correct distortion and peripheral illumination. Various aberrations that are difficult to correct by post-processing, such as sagittal coma flare, are thoroughly corrected by the compilation of the optical design technologies that SIGMA has cultivated, achieving an overwhelming resolution that can resolve over 50 million pixels.
In autofocus photography, comfortable shooting for a F1.2 large-diameter lens is achieved by the large hyper sonic motor (HSM) that gets desired torque required to drive the focus lens group. In manual focus photography, the focus ring driven by the focus-by-wire system with the optimized torque setting responds to fine operations of the photographer.
The aperture ring(①) is also mounted with a de-click function for removing clicks by the Click ON/OFF Switch(③), enabling seamless operations that are especially useful such as during video shooting. Furthermore, the AFL button(②) which can be assigned with various functions widens the range of operations available on the lens.
The lens features the dust- and splash-proof structure additionally with the water- and oil-repellent coating on the frontmost surface of the lens, which also supports shooting in various environments.
Matching the optical characteristics of the lens, this function performs in-camera corrections of peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, distortion, and more, to further enhance image quality. The brass mount combines high precision with rugged construction. Its treated surfaces and enhanced strength contribute to the exceptional durability of the lens. The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures high speed and quiet AF. The 11-blade rounded diaphragm creates an attractive blur in the out-of-focus areas of the image. From an early stage in the lens design process, flare and ghosting have been measured to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as back lighting. SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp and high contrast images even in back light conditions.Compatible With Lens Aberration Correction.

It takes three things to make outstanding lenses. The first is fine design. The second is precise manufacturing. The third is inspection. SIGMA's new lens lines deliver at the highest level on all three counts. First, they are designed to embody concepts that radically redefine the relationship among the photograph, the lens, and the photographer. Second, they are manufactured in Japan with SIGMA's vertically integrated production system and the most advanced production technology. Third, they are verified using unique performance-evaluation metrics and techniques, developed from the ground up by SIGMA, ensuring the highest level of expressive performance.
Having taken our lenses to a new level of performance, SIGMA has adopted a simple product identification strategy that makes it easy for the user to identify the kind of lens for which they are looking. Building on this idea, we've reorganized all our lenses into three product lines, each characterized by its own clearly defined concept. From now on, every new lens we develop will be assigned to one of these product lines. This new system is designed to make it easier for users to access the lenses they need.
Based on these new product lines, we have developed special software (SIGMA Optimization Pro) that can update the lens firmware and adjust parameters such as focus . The focus limiter is also customizable for Sports lenses. Using special USB Dock, the user will be able to connect the lens to their PC, and, using easy-to-operate on-screen controls, fine-tune focus and adjust other parameters to suit their personal preferences.
