Best lens in my Arsenal

Pros: lens is super sharp, construction is well made, feels high quality, comes with padded case Cons: I struggled with autofocus at times with the even with the wide aperture, very heavy, doesn’t balance well on Ronin RSC2 (balances, but fails to keep balanced during operation)

The best 35 you can get

The best 35mm you can get. Yes there’s a little vignetting at 1.2 but I typically add a little in post anyway. It’s big and heavy but that comes with the territory of quality glass. It’s super sharp, great contrast, colors and AF performance. Extremely recommended.

One Concern, But What An amazing Lens

I’m a little concerned. Twice my camera alerted me that my lens was not attached when it actually was. Otherwise this lens is super awesome! The 1.2 aperture creates some great, high quality images. I also love the weight of this lens.

A perfect 35mm lens...simply stunning!

Simple an amazing lens! Performance wide open across the frame is fantastic. Beautiful smooth bokeh and well corrected aberrations. Autofocus is fast and accurate on my A7R iii and A9. My favorite 35mm of all time and I have tested everything available for Sony and even the Canon 35mm 1.4 L ii. nothing touches this lens!

Amazing IQ if you want to lug around a 35mm brick

I really love the way this lens draws. It's amazingly sharp across the frame with very little CA at 1.2. (Compared to my old Canon 1.2's) Auto Focus was fast and accurate, love all the GM like features on the lens like the Manual Aperture and Focus Hold buttons. The bokeh is dreamy and smooth. A very lovely lens for sure but not for me. It's just too big. I know I will never grab it except for an occasional artistic use. If you want the best 35mm lens for the e-mount, this might be it, but you have to be okay with the size.

Well rounded and super-spec’d

So far this lens has provided excellent quality imagery in a variety of scenarios. It’s extremely sharp—the sharpest I’ve seen in some time. The bokeh rendering is beautiful and provides a nice 3D pop to subjects. Fringing is indeed present at 1.2, but it seems better than the two 35 1.4 counterparts. Heavy, but not unwieldy. I used it for some fast moving action shots yesterday and focus was pretty reliable.

About Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN ART

Bring your mirrorless photography to new heights with the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN ART Lens for Sony E. This lens, the first of its kind to offer a large F1.2 aperture, is designed to deliver unparalleled performance on full-frame Sony E-mount and L-Mount systems. Its wide-angle autofocus and maximum aperture allow for the creation of stunning artwork with exceptional resolution and large bokeh effects, perfect for portraits utilizing a shallow depth of field.

This lens is part of Sigma's Art line, a series renowned for its pursuit of ultimate image quality. It leverages the optical correction function within the camera to correct aberrations that are challenging to post-process, thereby enhancing image resolution. The "DG" in the product name signifies its optimized performance on cameras with full-frame sensors, while "DN" indicates its design is optimized for mirrorless cameras with a short flange focal length.

The Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN ART Lens is a part of a newly developed high-performance lens series for full-frame mirrorless cameras. As mirrorless cameras continue to evolve rapidly, the demand for lenses that can keep pace is growing. This lens series is Sigma's solution, offering unprecedented specifications and performance that take full advantage of the short flange focal length feature of mirrorless cameras.

The lens construction comprises 17 elements in 12 groups, including three SLD glass elements and three aspherical lenses, one of which is double-sided. This arrangement, coupled with the optical design that capitalizes on the short flange focal length, effectively utilizes the camera's correction function to correct distortion and peripheral illumination. Various aberrations, such as sagittal coma flare, are thoroughly corrected, achieving an overwhelming resolution that can resolve over 50 million pixels.

In autofocus photography, the large hyper sonic motor (HSM) ensures comfortable shooting by providing the desired torque required to drive the focus lens group. In manual focus photography, the focus ring, driven by the focus-by-wire system with the optimized torque setting, responds to the photographer's fine operations. The lens also features an aperture ring with a de-click function for removing clicks, enabling seamless operations, particularly useful during video shooting.

The Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN ART Lens is designed for durability and reliability, even in challenging environments. It features a dust- and splash-proof structure, along with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the frontmost surface of the lens. The high-precision, rugged brass bayonet mount combines precision with robust construction, contributing to the lens's exceptional durability. The lens also features a hood with a lock to prevent accidental dropping.

This lens is compatible with Lens Aberration Correction, which matches the optical characteristics of the lens to perform in-camera corrections of peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, distortion, and more, further enhancing image quality. The HSM ensures high speed and quiet autofocus, while the 11-blade rounded diaphragm creates an attractive blur in the out-of-focus areas of the image. The full-time manual focus function allows the lens to be switched to manual focus simply by rotating the focus ring.

In conclusion, the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN ART Lens for Sony E is a high-quality, advanced, professional, innovative, and durable lens that offers superior performance and creative control for photographers.
