This lens is a part of SIGMA's CINE LENSES series, specifically crafted to meet the rising demands of digital film production. Designed to work seamlessly with high-resolution digital cinema cameras, this lens is a testament to SIGMA's commitment to ultra-mega-pixel shooting.
The 40mm T1.5 FF High-Speed Prime Lens is part of a versatile lineup ranging from 20mm to 85mm, all with a T1.5 aperture. These lenses are designed to work with full-frame sensors, offering superior resolution in a compact form. With these lenses, you can achieve a consistent level of light and maintain the film's look and color/contrast before it enters post-production.
This lens features a 180-degree focus throw and is capable of matching up to 8K resolution. It is designed with standardized essentials such as a 95mm front diameter for matte box use and standard gear positions for accessories like follow focus. The lens also includes a manual linear iris control and electronic mounts that provide vital camera metadata.
Each CINE lens model is weatherproof and has luminous paint markings to aid in changing and operating the lens in the dark. The lens design ensures smooth operation and accuracy with a long focus rotation of 180 degrees, guided by cams.
The 40mm T1.5 FF High-Speed Prime Lens is manufactured and inspected in the Sigma factory located in Aizu, Japan. Each lens undergoes a rigorous lens performance evaluation to ensure compliance with all specifications. SIGMA's A1 proprietary Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) measuring system using 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors is used for this purpose.
The lens design minimizes flare and ghosting, enhancing contrast in backlit conditions. It also offers sharpness combined with an outstanding bokeh effect. The lens is designed to comply with SIGMA's CCI standard, ensuring standardized color balance across the lineup.
The lens is lightweight and compact, featuring a dust-proof and splash-proof construction. The rings and mount are specially sealed to prevent water and dust from entering, making this lens ready for use in tough conditions.
The lens features luminous paint for enhanced visibility in the dark and laser engraving for long-term use. SIGMA also offers a Mount Conversion Service for its new cine lenses, allowing users to convert their lenses to and from EF and E-mounts.
The 40mm T1.5 FF High-Speed Prime Lens for Sony E, Meter is a testament to SIGMA's commitment to delivering high-performance, durable, and versatile lenses for the world of cinematography.
