This lens is incredible for its price! I bought this lens through Adorama's Open Box department, so I got an extra discount from its full price. I am pairing it with my FX30 and my a6300; I wanted to use it as a photography and video lens. So far I've only tested this lens with my a6300 during a studio photoshoot, and the quality is outstanding-sharp portraits even at 1.4 (I've attached a few processed samples) I am currently testing continuous lighting portraits with my FX30, and I am equally impressed at how good the raw images look.

Lens showed up earlier than expected and in flawless condition for the "average" used rating. Seriously so excited to get out soon and put this lens to work. First time ever ordering through Adorama and I seriously just became a loyal customer. Thank you guys so much!!!!

This lens is superb. Image quality wide open is tack sharp. The lens is well made, but light and super compact. When you factor in the price, it is a must have - incredible bargain. Now resides on my CL 90% of the time - perfect for portraits.

The YouTube reviews on this lens are right. This is the best of the Sigma prime lens trio for the Sony APS-C cameras. I have the 16 and 30 mm. I like them both, but this focal length I find to be more useful for most of my pictures. Used this for some nighttime Holiday parade photos and got some great shots. This will be my go to lens for the kids band concerts and dance recitals. Focal length is good and the low light performance is great. The Sigma lenses have nice warm color to them and are very sharp. Focus speed is good but I do find it not as quick as Sony lenses. Very happy with my purchase and got a great price on Cyber Monday. I would recommend this lens and Adorama.

This is possibly the best lens to get for your Sony E Mount if you are a portrait photographer. This is equivalent to (almost) 85mm full frame, and this lens produces great bokeh quality, great in low light because of the F1.4, and it is very compact because of its size. I really enjoy using this lens and I honestly think this can compete with some G-Master lenses.

Bought this for my Canon M50 MkII, and I couldn't be happier. Small and light for its focal length and speed, super sharp, fast reliable focussing. It's also inexpensive compared to other similar lenses. Oh, and, unlike Canon lenses, Sigma lenses include a lens hood!

I considered the new Fuji 56mm f/1.2 WR lens but I'm happy I decided to try the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 first. It's $600 less with the sale price and the build quality and optical quality are great. The lens feels good in the hand, the images are sharp and beautiful. I'll add 3 photos made with the Sigma 56mm and my Fuji X-H2 40MP camera.

The images this lens produces are nothing short of spectacular. At f/1.4 the images are sharp and gorgeous. I have noticed a few mis focused (slightly) images of subjects at medium distances in low contrast light BUT for normal portrait style shots, the lens never missed a beat. I also suspect my Olympus em5 mark iii might play into the focus issues a tiny bit so not sure if it is fully the lenses fault. Overall, I am happy with the lens.

This lens is on the same level (for an APS-C lens) as an expensive 85mm prime lens on a full frame camera. Unless you're a high-earning professional photographer, you probably will not need or ever want a better portrait lens than this one.

First of all, the picture's taken with this lens using A6000 is perfect. The details in the pictures can't be compared with any other lens in $500 budger. Auto focus and low light is also beyond expectation. At last, Adorama did a great job, sent fast and it was well packaged.

I was looking into Fuji primes, when Sigma started offering their lenses for the Fuji X system. Great lens for an incredible price! I am not someone to peek into pixels, but the "feel" of a 1.4 lens is just great. No issues with focus etc. If you don't really need aperture ring, it's safe to get this one.

Very good lens for the price and it's compact size. Shows some barrel distorsions.

Hard to beat for the money, and sadly puts the old Fuji 56mm F1.2 to shame, at least in terms of performance/image quality. Overall, it focuses much more reliably than my Fuji 56mm, especially in low light, and it's also silent while doing it (vs. the loud/grindy sound of the Fuji). That translates to better tracking in CAF modes, and more shots in focus for things like couples walking down the aisle at weddings, etc. (Racking focus isn't that much quicker compared to the Fuji 56mm, but given that it's not confident/accurate, the speed isn't useful). Image quality is also better when shooting wide open compared to the Fuji, at least in my experience. My copy of the Fuji 56mm is pretty soft at F1.2 (especially at closer distances), and doesn't really sharpen up considerably until around F2. Conversely, the Sigma is sharp right from F1.4, and the difference in bokeh/background blur between F1.2 vs. F1.4 is minimal (as is the 1/3rd stop of light).

Way more than a portrait lens. Very happy with the results so far. Fast focus, good colors and dynamic range. Light weight. Fast delivery from Adorama. Huge value compared to Olympus Pro-line lenses.

Amazing lens and neat little kit items. The kit is essentially free, so the items aren?t high quality to match the lens, but everything works. Will probably never use the software, but I keep the polarizing filter on this lens almost all the time. Adorama?s packaging was disappointinf, though. This whole kit shipped in a box about twice as large as needed and with no packing paper or any protection to keep the items from moving around. In fact, when I picked the box up from my porch everything slid and crashed to the bottom, which scared me. Luckily, nothing broke.

This lens is a beast. Attached my M6 Mkiii it's able to quickly lock focus on eyes. Sharp in the focal range, nice creamy shallow depth of field in the background at f/1.4. After getting an adapter, I've slowly been transitioning to EF mount lenses, but this EF-M is staying in my bag. It is an incredible portrait lens and an amazing value for what you get.

Great for portraits - I should have bought it lens sooner!
By Robert R.
I love this lens! I considered purchasing the Olympus 75mm 1.8 for quite a while. I camp with High Adventure Treks for Dads and Daughters and the campout is on unless the roads are unsafe. This Sigma lens is "dust- and splash-proof design with rubber sealing". I did some research before I ordered and it is rated as having great sharpness for 4/3. In practice it didn't disappoint. I like the focal length. It easily allows me to be far enough from the subject to avoid crowding. It isn'...

Sigma’s APS-C size mirrorless dedicated prime lenses are now available for Canon RF Mount.
The 16mm model uses three FLD and two SLD elements. On the other hand, the 23mm has three SLD elements and the 56mm includes one SLD element. Each have aspherical elements.
The lens’s rounded 9-blade diaphragm produces smoother and more natural-looking out-of-focus areas.
The 16mm and 23mm models can focus as close as 9.8in. Meanwhile, the 30mm and 56mm focus at 11.8in and 19.7in respectively.
You're looking at weights between 285g and 415g, so each lens in this series is very easy to carry. No more fatigue!
The series offers commonly used filter sizes — 67mm for the 16mm, 52mm for the 23mm and 30mm, and 55mm for the 56mm lens.
Each lens in the series provides a unique maximum magnification ratio ranging from 1:7 to 1:9.9.
The 16mm (79.9°) is perfect for wide-angle, while the 23mm (60.5°) and 30mm (48.2°) lenses are ideal for everyday photography, and the 56mm (26.9°) excels in portraiture.

The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN lens is compatible with in-camera correction functions, which enhance image quality by correcting peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, and distortion on supported cameras. Its optical design is optimized to resist strong incident light sources, such as backlighting, while the SIGMA Super Multi-Layer Coating minimizes flare and ghosting, ensuring crisp, clear images.
