Great Lens For The Price

While I've only used it a few times with my Canon T1i, I was able to get clear images at 300mm handholding the camera. The image stabilization works great. I've experimented with using my Kenko 1.4X tele-converter and it bright light it works great with this lens including AF.

Works as advertised

Less expensive alternative to a Canon Lens. Take good photo's and isn't to heavy. I use it for bird photography with good results.

Not bad, but a little slow on the draw.

If you have NEVER used a Canon USM lens with its fast autofocusing, then this lens could make you happy. This lens is sharp and seems solid. However, I could never get used to its snail-like autofocus and sold mine. So if price is your major (or only) consideration, then this lens could be for you. But if you are looking for Ultrasonic performance, then you should either buy a Canon lens or wait for Sigma to introduce this lens with an HSM focusing motor.

Super lens

This is my primary lens for photographing birds. It is an affordable alternative to Canon a lens. Works smoothly and quietly but is on the heavy side. Like my lens.

Be careful with this one.

I have a couple Sigma lenses that are excellent!! However, I went to a camera shop and tried one of these on my 60D Canon Camera. With the first lens, the focus would jump all over the place, even using a single focus point. They said the lens "must have internal problems". Tried a second lens, and at 300 it would not focus. If you backed off to 275 or less it was fine. I then tried a 70-300 Canon lens ($550.00) and it worked perfect, no isues at all!! This lens is a mismatch with a 60D camera. If you are interested in this lens for a 60D, I would strongly recommend that you go to a camera shop and see if it will work with your camera.

Good Lense

I use this lense more often than my others. Shooting nature and wildlife, outdoors. It makes sharp photos and has good optical stabilization.Works with the sigma 1.4x tel-converter,even though the sigma chart doesn"t show it on the list, but it definetely does. It does tend to want to hunt for your focus more than Canons does, and you can here the Glass move inside if you tilt it sideways, but it doesn"t harm anything.could be quieter. I use this lense in the woods and outdoors constantly, but it takes it. I"d buy a Canon,70-300 but this was cheaper pricewise.

A Great Lens

I'm fairly new to the DLSR world and this lens was perfect for my Canon camera. I first read about this lens in Poplular Photography and after using it this past weekend at the beach, I was very impressed with the image quality even at full zoom. A great lens especially for the price.

Following...

Following my need to have a good telephoto lens at reasonable prices this lens fits the bill. One of it's short comings is the speed at which this lens operates and is not acceptable at low light conditions without the addition of an external flash rather than the cameras built-in flash. Using the cameras build-in flash causes lens shadow. I have taken photos of the printing on power transformers on the utility poles in alleys (hand held) and found them to be completely legible in test shots. Long distance scenics are fine but as with slower lens f-stops a tripod is a must for even the best of photographers.
