Performance we demanded and was delivered
Sigma hit it out of the park with this lens. Not only is it extremely sharp from center out to the edges of the image at 1.4 it's also AF extremely well on my 5D4. Weight of the lens is not for the weak.. it's 42oz exactly w/ the hood mounted. However most of the weight is in the rear of the lens so it feels really balanced on my 5D4. The best lens ever made for portraits
No, honestly. I'm not exaggerating. I've been shooting professionally for 10 years now and I've used all sorts of lenses. I'll go ahead and say this is the best lens ever made for portrait photography. Nothing comes close as far as sharpness. A 50mm has too much distortion and a 135mm has too much compression. Extraordinary Optimal Performance
The SIGMA 85mm Art lens does a remarkable job of delivering stunning photos and videos that you won’t need to post-process later on. While shooting, its improved optical performance and special SLD (special low dispersion) glass minimize the occurrence of common lens problems such as chromatic aberration, image distortion, and vignetting. This helps deliver photos with greater contrast, sharpness, and color definition compared to non-anomalous partial dispersion (APO) lenses. Its ring-type Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) also allows the user to focus on subjects even faster and more silently compared to its predecessor. It’s the perfect match for your Nikon and other high-megapixel digital cameras.

With a maximum aperture of f/1.4, this versatile Sigma lens lets you focus on a very small and shallow area while blurring the background and foreground to create that pleasing bokeh that every photographer dreams of.

Highly Versatile and Durable
The 85mm f/1.4 DH HSM lens is made of TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) material both externally and internally to ensure precise camera engine operation and compatibility with metal parts. Its Mount Converter MC-11 also makes the 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM compatible with many other camera systems aside from Nikon, such as Sony and Canon, via SIGMA SA and SIGMA EOS mounts. The Sigma lens has a coating that repels water and oil, and it has a mount made of heavy-duty brass-made bayonet.
