In another life with another brand (Pentax), my favorite travel rig was a set of compact, high quality crop primes (15/20/40/70)-faster and much lighter around the neck than a zoom. Sony has put together with the 24/40/50 2.5G FF lenses with a similar philosophy. I bought this Sigma to add a compact tele to my compact G lenses for the A7RC. The 90 performs superbly and adds the Tele end I used to have with a 70 on APS-C but now with FF capability and terrific cropping potential of a 61mp sensor. 

The only catch is that the Sigma is made of metal, and it weighs twice as much and is twice the size of the compact Sonys. It makes it harder to put this kit in a compact waist pack or photo vest pocket, and too often, the Sigma gets left at the hotel.  (It's also why the metal, massively heavy Sigma 135/1.8 never comes along on vacation.)

Also, kudos for giving me an aperture ring, but why no hold button? Programmable controls on the lens are much appreciated with Sony's compact bodies.  If this lens were more like the compact Sony G series and less like the old metal Zeiss FE lenses, I'd give it a perfect 5.

Great performance, but heavy.

Pretty much perfect for what it is. The only thing I'd like to see different is having a lock to keep the aperture ring in 'A' or not, it can get bumped.

Really nice 90mm

This lens is sharp starting wide open and going through the aperture range.  I use it on a Sony A7R II.  It also reproduces colors very accurately.  Autofocus is quiet and quick.  The build quality is exemplary, having an all-metal barrel and hood.  It is also compact and lightweight.

Perfect lens?

This lens is truly outstanding.  It's small and light weight.  The image quality is very sharp all the way through the apretures.  The color rendition is very accurate.  The bokeh is very pleasing when shot wide open.
