The camera - tried twice so far - for landscape photography. After working with Nikons for many years it is a breath of fresh air to see raw files with great colour contrast and detail straight from camera without the need for extra editing. My gripe with Nikon was files needed a lot of massaging to get colour tone differences, but with the Sigma the files are spot on after very easily changing white balance and a couple of other settings. (Thankfully, as the Sigma software is painfully slow). Being a lower res sensor as well as APS-C means you have to be further from your subject for hyperfocus depth of field and files are definitely lacking the 36mpx detail of a D810 for example, but not by much. Any stationary objects are totally razor sharp throughout the focal plane if you get hyperfocus right, however moving objects such as water are lacking in detail which is a real shame, so flowing water does not render well so far for me (see crop image). Any wind creates an issue more readily than a faster camera too, but will always cause problems for the landscape shooter. I tried the extra high res jpg but won't use it again for landscape shooting. Maybe useful for real estate or still life where nothing moves. Another limitation which bugs me is there's no L bracket, which is part of my workflow. I use one bodged on, which is made for another camera, but it stops me being able to shoot portrait with a cable release trigger and I have to unscrew the L bracket to take out the battery. As you've probably read elsewhere, given the right conditions, this camera is a budget sensation and gives full frame a true run for their money, but it is slow, it is limited with ISO (max 100 for me!) and moving objects have issues with artefacts. I am still very happy for a change of pace with this camera for landscape and look forward to using it more. Battery life is good enough for me. I can go out into the landscape with two batteries and shoot a sunrise or sunset happily with no need to worry about running out of juice, shooting with live view all the while. I would want to charge daily or every other day though to avoid drain, so they are not as durable as the full frame DSLR competition.

The 51 MP Foveon sensor Sigma SD Quattro H is an amazing camera if used carefully. Unfortunately each battery can only allow 180-200 shots so it is important to have several back ups.
