Wasn't sure if it would work, but it's excellent. Got here in record time.

Given that the Lumix S lens lineup is still growing, one way to immediately expand your options is to adapt Canon EF lenses. The system is fully mature and this adapter makes it easy to get started. Autofocus will struggle a bit more, so be advised. This is still a great piece of kit.

I attempted to use the Sigma MC-21 adapter on a Leica SL2 with a Sigma 60-600mm lens. I gave it a try after talking to a Sigma rep who told me that this adapter would work to allow the lens to operate as a native L-mount lens. The adapter provides basic functionality in terms of electronic control of lens settings and does allow for AF-S. There is no AF-C and AF-S is slow. It was a disappointment after being told that the lens would operate as a native L-mount lens.

When Sigma says that they only guarantee correct operation with lenses they make themselves, that should be taken seriously as a warning with lenses that aren't fully manual. This adapter works great with fully-manual Rokinon/Samyang cine lenses. By contrast, I'm not thrilled w/ performance with a Canon f/1.8 50mm, despite the "nifty fifty" being hugely popular -- autofocus is unusably slow, and the camera hung a few times and had to have power removed to get it unstuck during settings adjustments. It's interesting that the screw mounts are in exactly the right place (to have both camera and lens mount fastened down) when the camera is in a SmallRig cage; when the camera is uncaged, one ends affixing the mount only but not the camera to a tripod.

Works surprisingly well. I've had no problems with this converter and have adapted EF mount lenses made by both Canon and Sigma without problems. I've adapted Canon's 70-200mm F4, their 50mm f1.8 STM, an old 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 USM lens, and the 75-300mm f4-5.6 II USM. From Sigma I've adapted their 105mm f2.8 EX Macro (not the HSM version). I've had no problems with aperture control on any of them. The focusing speed has been fine and pretty snappy aside from the 75-300 and the macro but they are both pretty slow to focus on Canon bodies as well. There isn't AF/C focusing available when using this adapter but it isn't advertised as such. The camera IS able to track the subject when using the adapter however so if you are shooting in something like eye detect mode it will keep the focus area over the subjects eye so as soon as you focus it will be at the correct spot. While it would be nice to have AF/C when using the adapter Sigma has always stated it couldn't do it any never claimed it was a feature that would be added. I think the $250 retail price is higher than it should be (I got mine used for half that) but for around $150 it's very good value considering Panasonic has been so slow at releasing lenses, especially affordable ones, and this opens the door to a lot of EF mount lenses at a much more reasonable price for those that don't need AF/C or the ultra high speed focusing of Panasonic's l-mount lenses.

Has worked great for me thus far. Feels solid when mounted. AF is fast with my Sigma EF mount lenses. People should understand that this adapter is NOT guaranteed to work with any lenses except for those Sigma EF mount lenses that Sigma lists as being compatible. Don't expect the adapter to do something it wasn't designed to. That being said, I threw a Canon 50mm f/1.8 on and everything worked ...

Alex R.'s review was spot on. On lenses that have electrical contacts for aperture control, the adapter will cause the lens to stop down every I start and stop shooting video, except for when shooting wide open. I am attaching a video for better understanding. Sigma - Please update firmware to fix this.

Very solid construction and lens feels secure but not too tight when mounted. The autofocus does not work hardly at all, but one cool thing that this adapter does with the S1H is communicate the focal length from Canon zoom lenses (I've tried with the 24-70 and 24-105 so far, so it may only be L lenses) and works with the IBIS to stabilize every focal length you shoot at automatically. Thats really cool and something that I never found with adapting to Sony.

Works well with most lenses. I don't need autofocus for what I do so I don't care about that. However, when I use it with my Rokinon SP 50mm 1.2 the camera only sees it as a f/1.3 and every time I start or stop recording, the aperture closes by one stop. No idea why. I don't want to get rid of my lens. Please metabones make something better.

After reading all the bad reviews I was a little unsure about buying this adapter. I just purchased my S1 about 3 weeks ago and have recently shot two weddings on it. With the limited availability of native glass. I was looking for some way of increasing the low light capability of this system. Weddings are inherently dark. I have a large investment of canon glass at my disposal so I ordered it any way. I use my S1 mostly for video. I am already at a disadvantage as is, as stated only works in s focus mode. I get it. It could have been better. It should utilize the continuous focus mode, but it doesn't. Theres also nothing else like this available. Sigma is only beginning to release their line of Art lenses and they cost as much as Native canon glass. Heres my work around for now until I invest in new lenses. The fn buttons on the S1 are fully customizable so I set my upper front Fn button to AFL/AEL for focusing and my lower one to REC. Then I turn the focus peaking setting to on. Basically focus then record. I can hold down my fn auto focus button and watch my focus peak and adjust as needed while recording. Its not perfect but I'm thinking its better then cranking up the ISO with the 24-105. The C/AF is ok with the 24-105 but even in tracking mode I find that I have to focus then record any way. If the tracking falls out of focus it is slow to regain. The build quality is good and it is weather sealed. I feel like its similar to driving a performance car with paddle shifters. Theres no clutch but you still have to shift. I hope this helps.

I really hope there is a firmware update that enables AF-C on the S1/S1R/S1H. This should work the same as the MC-11 does on Sony cameras, but it clearly does not. I have used this only once within the past month because it is simply frustrating to use. I am now concerned that Sigma will soon say that AF-C will also not work on the L-Mount lenses that are being released soon. For this reason, I am not placing any pre-orders on any Sigma L-Mount lenses. There is no point. Sigma's original press release noted that AF-C would work on the new lenses. I'll believe it when I see it. Sigma, please get your act together. Perhaps Tamron can find a way to fill this void. Panasonic, please get future L-Mount lenses to market more quickly since this converter that was supposed to open a world of lenses to the L-Mount only does about 1/4 of what it should.

Poor autofocus performance. Only works in single focus mode. Almost faster to manual focus.

I was optimist this would be a great adapter and support decent autofocus on the Panasonic S1. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Single point autofocus is very slow to the point that manual focusing would be faster. Continuous autofocus is not supported at all and it doesn't work on the Leica SL.

This is nothing like the MC-11 for the Sony system. It takes forever to acquire focus using my adapted Sigma lenses. In fact this is the reason why I returned the S1. It's probably one of the best cameras I've ever used, and I returned it with much hesitation. However, It's a lot of money to completely switch over to a new system. I thought: "for the time being I can adapt some of my Canon glass", well that didn't work out. I'll wait for save up some money and for there to be a better lens selection for the Panasonic S1 before completely deciding to switch over. Unfortunately this killed it for me.

AF Does Not Work, But Will Stabilize Zoom Lenses Automatically On S1H

The SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-21 allows SIGMA SA mount mount interchangeable lens owners to use their lens investment on L-Mount camera bodies. The converter allows more freedom of choice for L-Mount cameras from SIGMA, Leica Camera and Panasonic, enhancing the extensibility of the L-Mount system.
Effective use of lens investment
Attaching the MC-21 to your collection of SIGMA SA mount and SIGMA's CANON EF mount compatible lenses* allows them to be used as L-Mount system lenses, promoting the effective use of valuable lenses already owned.
29 interchangeable lenses available to be used for L-Mount cameras The MC-21 increases the number of interchangeable lenses manufactured by SIGMA that can be used with the L-Mount system by 29 lenses. Compatible with the autocrop function, mounting APS-C size image circle DC lenses to a camera body equipped with a 35mm full size sensor still allows immediate use for shooting.
