Under the banner of innovative camera storage solutions, the Medium DSLR Core Unit Version 2, Parisian Nights, stands out with its enhanced features and refined design. This updated version is engineered to integrate seamlessly with the Action-X side camera access, a feature exclusive to our new Action-X50 backpack. The Medium DSLR Core Unit V2 is tailored for professional photographers who use mid- to Pro-size camera equipment. It can comfortably accommodate professional gripped Mirrorless or gripped DSLR bodies as tall as the Canon EOS-1DX or Nikon D5. One of the standout features of the Medium DSLR Core Unit V2 is its modular stacking capability. This allows users to stack a Small Core Unit on top of the Medium one, creating a volume equivalent to a Large insert. This flexibility offers a wider range of options, from using just the Small Unit, the Medium Unit, or both together to equal a Large Core Unit volume. The Medium DSLR Core Unit V2 also boasts an integrated side access, a feature that allows simultaneous full rear-access and side-access. This side door connects flawlessly with the backpack's side-panel door for seamless operation. Protection for your valuable gear is paramount, and the Medium DSLR Core Unit V2 delivers with its EVA-constructed walls and dividers. This material offers superior protection compared to the cheaper PE foams found in most camera bags. The EVA construction also allows for thinner walls that take up less internal volume while still providing excellent protection. The Core Unit's exterior shell and Tricot lining are laminated to the EVA, creating a unified unit and dividers. This design eliminates any looseness with the fastening of dividers. The dividers themselves have a unique inward taper, making setup and field adjustments easier by limiting the catching of the fastener while inserting the divider. The Core Unit features a lightweight, water-repellant, and multipurpose skin. This cover is designed to be light and packable, with a water-resistant PU coating that meets C6 environmental standards. This skin serves as a storage case for the padded Core Units when not in use, keeping them sealed and dust-free. It can also be used as a packing cell for clothing or other items, offering an extra layer of organization for your workflow and travel transitions. It's also perfect for keeping wet and dirty gear separated.

Works well with the x50 bag I bought and was super easy to customize. Fits my Pentax 645nii nicely.

It mostly excels at fitting the Shimoda pack precisely. As an icu it my needs but I don't typically carry a ton of gear. As others have pointed out in the past, the side access is not as easy with the Shimoda Explorer 30.

Totally Fine

Overall build/material quality seems good and has held up so far. I'm able to just squeeze in my camera body and three lenses. Gear used is the r5, 15-35, 24-70 and 70-200. If you have other gear that you'd like to live in a core unit you might thinking about adding the single core unit to the mix.
