This durable three-piece cage kit, complete with a 15mm LW baseplate system and an L-shaped top handle, provides comprehensive protection and a multitude of accessory-mounting threads for your RED Digital Cinema Komodo 6K camera.The top handle, constructed from anodized aluminum and lined with a smooth Canadian maple finger grip, offers a solid connection to your top plate using mounting screws. It incorporates the innovative SHAPE Push-Button Technology, allowing for optimal weight balance and 360-degree handle rotation. The handle is equipped with numerous 3/8"-16 ARRI-style anti-twist accessory threads and a front section cold shoe designed to receive a spring-loaded cold shoe foot. This feature allows for the mounting of accessories like monitors, video lights, or microphones weighing up to 4.4 lb, with the ability to tilt and lock them at your desired angle.The lightweight, three-piece cage is crafted from CNC anodized aluminum and ensures unhindered access to your camera's controls and ports. It includes side plates with M6 ARRI rosettes on both sides and a top plate that can be securely mounted to your RED KOMODO camera using two 1/4"-20 UNC socket head cap screws. The top plate and side plates feature a variety of 3/8"-16 and 1/4-20 UNC threaded mounting holes, including the ARRI anti-rotating system for secure accessory attachment.The 15mm LW baseplate system is designed to align with the RED KOMODO optical center, with or without the expander module. It includes an adapter plate, a dovetail spacer with Arri rosette mounts, and a 15mm LW baseplate. The dovetail plate slides into the dovetail spacer, which mounts to the 15mm LW baseplate, allowing for easy transition to your Ronin 2 gimbal system without the need for screwing or unscrewing any plates.The package also includes a pair of 15mm rods, 12" in length, made of reliable aluminum coated with a clear finish. These rods can be used to extend your camera rig and accommodate various SHAPE and third-party accessories compatible with 15mm rods. The packaging was convenient with screws placed in with its corresponding part, though a couple of screws were missing. The top plate, in my opinion, is too large and clunky adding unnecessary weight and is not the best looking appearance wise. The red tightening knob is a hair too long and hits the top of the tripod head. Yes, it has the pull out then turn option, but it's a pain. The best part is the HDMI cord protection attachment. In conclusion, this is one of the only cage options with a rod mount that's available right now, so if you need one, it's very worth it.
