I find these super-versatile. The Shape product seems like a strong alloy, and I like the at least somewhat wide shoulders of the design - I think they make it more secure in a baby socket or other clamping situation. The hole in the center is generously sized for an 8mm or 5/16" bar so it can be twisted up tight into some useful device like a mini ballhead or coldshoe and then clamped in a baby mount. Paired with a baby adapter that has two differently sized threaded holes, it makes a spigot of either thread size. With a strong component like this I'll often add a sparingly thin coat of anti-seize to the threads - the lubrication also gives a better torque-tension relationship and improved security (but don't go overboard with your now up to 20% more tension or you'll start breaking things - and sparingly is key so your fingertips don't irreparably screw up your light modifiers or optics).
