I am so happy I can control each of my flashpoint and godox strobe lights power individually and can trigger them via the flash meter. Saves a lot of time when you need to change the power of just one light or a group of lights. Can measure the real output of high speed sync rather than having to guess. Touchscreen is easy to use and read.

Perhaps you're looking at the L-858D-U because you read about the custom camera profiling feature and thought that was exactly what you were looking for. That's what sold me on this unit, however, little did I know that it requires the use of a piece of software that can be downloaded from the Sekonic website and that program is no longer being supported apparently. The long and the short of it is that you can download the program and even go through the process of creating a custom profile for your camera, but you won't be able to upload that profile to the meter because the meter won't connect the computer through USB as it is supposed to and all of your time was spent for nothing. The driver that the DTS software installs is for the L-758 meter, which may or may not be part of the issue, and there is no available help or information to solve this issue. Research it for yourself and see. I would've bought a less expensive unit if I had known that the main feature of this unit, for which I purchased it, is useless to me.

Touchscreen, is stiff, requires a finger nail. The menus could be a lot better organized. For example if ya just wanna back out one menu level, it closes the whole menu system instead of just backing up. So ya have to start all over and find where you were again. Annoying and unprofessional. Some aperture settings are not settable, based on what t+f steps you have set. So if ya want a 1.2 aperture, ya have to set the t+f step size to 0.5. Otherwise it'll jump from 1.1 to 1.3, then same thing again if ya want a 1.8 aperture, ya have to set the t+f step size back again to 0.3. Ridiculous and cumbersome! Otherwise it works well, good battery life. My Godox radio is fantastic!

Of course when someone told me about light meters and to go buy one, really, do you need to look further? I mean, I purchased this light meter to begin, learn, and grow old with. It IS THE BEST and if you are hinting towards a studio with lighting career, then this is definitely the go to light meter with the functions that set your parameters you want. This will deliver great results whatever you can imagine to throw at it.

The Sekonic L-858D-U is kitted with the RT-20PW transmitter module. The RT-20PW is a user-replaceable radio module that fits neatly next to the batteries in the SPEEDMASTER L-858D Light Meter.
This kit brings a integrated light metering workflow to PocketWizard users, making it possible for them to measure effortlessly, control, and analyze the characteristics of flash like never before. The Sekonic RT-20PW simplifies the process of lighting a portrait, analyzing a scene and helping you quickly dial in your lighting recipe to get to your final image with exacting precision.
Sekonic Speedmaster L-858D-U is the world's first multi-function, multi-brand wireless triggering light meter. It is the first of its kind capable of measuring flash duration and brief flash bursts like you find from HSS (High Speed Sync) for precision flash control.
Features
Radio Compatibility
The L-858D with the RT-20PW transmitter module provides multiple functions beyond triggering, including access to 32 channels and up to four zones and support for the ControlTL system enabling user to remotely control flash power and turn the modeling light on and off.
Next Level Flash Analysis
PocketWizard users can more easily measure the percentage of flash in their images to maintain the desired mix of ambient and flash. Measure flash duration as well to know how much stopping power your lights have to freeze the splash from their favorite product shot, or the pose of a ballet dancer.
