Susan S : I bought a light meter that totally skipped over my camera's sync speed of 1/160, 1/250, and 1/320. Does this meter have these to choose from?GINO M : This light meter only gives you f stop at a given iso, shutter controls ambient or continuous light, flash is controlled by f stop, the lower the f stop the more light is let into the camera therefor the brighter the image while using flash, there are better light meters that measure both flash and ambient light. ISO 100 f/5.6 is the same as ISO 200 f/8.0 or ISO 400 f/11NICHOLAS T : I bought this meter fir digital cinematography. It has a very wide range and is very accurate. Given the rates these new cameras can shoot at you need a tool that will allow you to adjust quickly and simply. The seconic can do this. BTW, since I bought mine, several of my students have purchased the same one. Hope this helps. N
Shopper : Does this meter have the ability to save reading or at least retain the last reading. for instance if you have to take a reading and you can't view the screen while taking it, will it remain on the screen?ANDREW R : The reading should remain on the display until another reading is taken or until the meter turns off.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?STAN M : I used the bigger brother (L-358) in a studio lighting class, and found that having a light meter definitely had advantages. I don't ALWAYS use a light meter, but when I have, found the exposures to be better. I bought this model, as I plan to use constant lights, and therefore didn't see a need for the optional Pocket Wizard trigger.

Don't Hesitate

I avoided getting one. But now that I did, I love using it. Not sure I'd dump a whole lot into it, which makes these a bit easier to pay for. For the price... It's probably more than you need...

The Sekonic L-308DC DigiCineMate is the perfect light meter for today's DSLR and digital practitioners. The intuitive LCD readout can be user-adjusted to display the specific functions needed for the task at hand. It reads incident light via the Lumisphere and Lumidisc. Slide the Lumisphere for reflected light readings. In Cine mode the meter reads out in lux or foot-candles as well as fps (frames per second) and shutter angles. In Photo mode the L-308DC displays shutter speeds, f/stops or EV at ISOs from 3 to 8000. Besides ambient readings the L-308DC can meter flash in incident or reflected mode with or without a sync cord. Finally, at a mere 3.4 oz, this light-reading tool is also lightweight.
