This is a great little starter OTA for astrophotography and seeing as well. You'll need the field flattener for astrophotography, but well worth it.

Scope has long focus only attainable with extension tubes (not provided). Can't plop in an eyepiece or attach camera without accesories. Has no instructions on how to use. Customer service advice: "It's only an Optical Tube Assembly." I can't comment on optics. Scope is nicely made and looks great!.

The Skywatcher EvoStar 80Ed is a great scope for the money. Views are excellent using the supplied 20mm and 5mm eyepieces. I was unsure how the scope would respond using the 5mm eyepiece, and was pleasantly surprised that the views with this ocular were sharp and crisp. Criticisms of doublets are based on the tendency of these scopes to provide green or purple fringing around the edges of bright objects. With the 20mm eyepiece, I was able to discern minor green fringing around the waxing moon (about 3/4 full), but it was barely noticeable and did not detract from the views. I mounted the scope on my Celestron AVX mount, which proved to be very steady. On my first night with the scope, I viewed several galaxies, double stars, globular and open clusters, as well as the Moon, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Saturn. All the views were tack sharp and pleasant. All together, a great scope.

Excellent telescope relation cost/benefit. All accesories included. Its like "plug&play". I´m an amateur astrophotographer. I only use it for astrophotography, not for terrestrial view. Excellent and sharp images. First time to use and boy an APO ED. I´m sure you are going to enjoy it. Highly recommended. Adorama´s custermer service: A++.

The scope looked good. Unfortunately, the manual was missing. I searched on line for one but I was unsuccessfully.

I'm a bit of a scope junkie and have owned many. Tend to buy scopes, use them for a while and then give them away. This scope is a keeper! Great wide field views of brighter objects. Optics are fantastic. Mounted scope on Celestron CG-4 Equatorial Tripod. The Right Ascension knob at some stiction when I first used the scope but a little spray of silicone lubricant fixed that. I also added a Tel-Rad for easier target pointing. A very capable APO Refractor that will provide very satisfying views with the Wow Factor!

Discover the unparalleled clarity and precision of the Sky-Watcher EvoStar 80ED / ProED 80mm Doublet APO Refractor Telescope Optical Tube, a high-quality instrument designed for both amateur astronomers and astrophotography enthusiasts. This advanced telescope features a doublet apochromatic lens system with extra-low dispersion (ED) glass, which significantly reduces chromatic aberration and provides high-fidelity, contrast-rich views of celestial wonders.
The EvoStar 80ED / ProED is renowned for its ability to produce the sharpest and most accurate images possible from a telescope of its class. The 80mm aperture and 600mm focal length create a powerful combination that allows for an expansive field of view, perfect for observing detailed structural features on planets like Jupiter and Saturn, as well as the intricate crater detail on the Moon's surface.
Astrophotographers will appreciate the telescope's wide-field capabilities, making it an exceptional choice for capturing stunning images of nebulae, star clusters, and distant galaxies. The optical tube's innovative design ensures that light is concentrated into the central airy-disk and first diffraction rings, resulting in sharper images without the interference of a central obstruction, a common issue with reflector telescopes.
The EvoStar 80ED / ProED is not only powerful but also portable and durable. Its compact size makes it an ideal travel companion for stargazers looking to explore dark-sky locations. The included 2" eyepiece provides a comfortable viewing experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the night sky for extended periods.
This refractor telescope stands out with its ultra-high contrast and exquisite detail, enabling users to scrutinize the subtlest celestial features under optimal conditions. The use of fluorite in the second lens element, a material known for its exceptional optical properties, ensures the virtual elimination of residual false color, delivering dramatic, coal-black skies and faithful views that are truly second to none.
Whether you're an aspiring astrophotographer or a seasoned stargazer, the Sky-Watcher EvoStar 80ED / ProED 80mm Doublet APO Refractor Telescope Optical Tube is a powerful, innovative, and reliable choice that promises to enhance your astronomical observations and imaging. Discover the universe with clarity and precision like never before with this exceptional instrument from Adorama.
