It needs a 90 degree dia.MARK H : I'm not sure what a 2" star tracker is. A great OTA

This is a great little starter OTA for astrophotography and seeing as well. You'll need the field flattener for astrophotography, but well worth it.

Needs Attachments To Use

Scope has long focus only attainable with extension tubes (not provided). Can't plop in an eyepiece or attach camera without accesories. Has no instructions on how to use. Customer service advice: "It's only an Optical Tube Assembly." I can't comment on optics. Scope is nicely made and looks great!.

Great wide field refractor

The Skywatcher EvoStar 80Ed is a great scope for the money. Views are excellent using the supplied 20mm and 5mm eyepieces. I was unsure how the scope would respond using the 5mm eyepiece, and was pleasantly surprised that the views with this ocular were sharp and crisp. Criticisms of doublets are based on the tendency of these scopes to provide green or purple fringing around the edges of bright objects. With the 20mm eyepiece, I was able to discern minor green fringing around the waxing moon (about 3/4 full), but it was barely noticeable and did not detract from the views. I mounted the scope on my Celestron AVX mount, which proved to be very steady. On my first night with the scope, I viewed several galaxies, double stars, globular and open clusters, as well as the Moon, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Saturn. All the views were tack sharp and pleasant. All together, a great scope.

Awesome telescope

Excellent telescope relation cost/benefit. All accesories included. Its like "plug&play". I´m an amateur astrophotographer. I only use it for astrophotography, not for terrestrial view. Excellent and sharp images. First time to use and boy an APO ED. I´m sure you are going to enjoy it. Highly recommended. Adorama´s custermer service: A++.

No Manual Included

The scope looked good. Unfortunately, the manual was missing. I searched on line for one but I was unsuccessfully.

Beautiful Views

I'm a bit of a scope junkie and have owned many. Tend to buy scopes, use them for a while and then give them away. This scope is a keeper! Great wide field views of brighter objects. Optics are fantastic. Mounted scope on Celestron CG-4 Equatorial Tripod. The Right Ascension knob at some stiction when I first used the scope but a little spray of silicone lubricant fixed that. I also added a Tel-Rad for easier target pointing. A very capable APO Refractor that will provide very satisfying views with the Wow Factor!

How the Sky-Watcher EvoStar 120ED APO Refractor Telescope redefines the stargazing experience for serious amateur astronomers. This high-performance ED-APO refractor is renowned for its superior contrast, high-definition, and coal-black sky background that transforms stars into diamond-like points against a velvet black canvas.

The EvoStar 120ED APO Refractor utilizes cutting-edge optical glasses and advanced fabricating techniques to deliver unparalleled high-fidelity astronomical imaging. With this telescope, subtle celestial details come alive, offering a viewing experience that lesser optical instruments cannot match.

The additional aperture of the 120mm diameter lens dramatically enhances resolution, providing an immersive 3D high-definition view of lunar and planetary surfaces. From the rugged Southern Highlands of the lunar surface to the famous crater Theophilus, the EvoStar 120ED APO Refractor offers a detailed and captivating tour of the moon.

Refractors are considered the ultimate imaging instruments due to their ability to concentrate more light into the central airy-disk and first diffraction rings. The EvoStar 120ED APO Refractor, free from diffraction pattern interference caused by a diagonal mirror or secondary mirror, delivers sharper images than other optical designs.

Sky-Watcher ED-APO refractors are the pinnacle of their design class, offering the finest images obtainable. They deliver dramatic coal-black skies and contrast-rich views of planetary and deep-space phenomena that are unrivaled. These refractors virtually eliminate residual chromatic aberration, commonly found in 2-element achromatic lens designs, by utilizing the finest extra-low dispersion (ED) glass available, FPL-53.

Selected models of ED-APO refractors also benefit from the use of Schott glass for the positive front Crown element in the objective. Schott is a world leader in glass used for precision optical lens systems, including medical instrumentation and high-end camera lenses.

Every lens element in the Sky-Watcher ED-APO refractors is individually inspected for purity and absence of striae and other image-degrading imperfections. Each lens is polished to exacting standards of optical fabrication and performance by highly skilled opticians using state-of-the-art methodology and rigidly controlled optical testing procedures.

The Sky-Watcher EvoStar 120ED APO Refractor also features exotic anti-reflection metallic coatings on each air-to-glass lens surface to ensure optimum light throughput. The proprietary Sky-Watcher "Metallic High-Transmission Coatings" (MHC) are the finest photon anti-rejection coatings in their class.

The telescope's optical tube is made from aluminum, powder-coated reflective gloss black with gold fleck accent. The front and back cells are cast-aluminum painted white or black. The optical tube comes with attachment hardware that allows it to be securely fastened to compatible mounts.

In conclusion, the Sky-Watcher EvoStar 120ED APO Refractor Telescope offers an exceptional viewing experience for amateur astronomers, delivering consistent satisfaction and peak performance every time it's taken into the field.
