Great telescope! I love it!

Great telescope! I'm a beginner. I've always been interested in astronomy and wanted to see the moon and the planets for myself. One night after seeing the moon, Venus, and another star aligned in the night sky, I made it a point to look for a telescope to get a close up view. A lot of people recommend getting a Dobsonian telescope for a beginner. Since I was more interested in the moon and planets, I opted for this Maksutov-Cassegrain. The first time I used it, I was blown away! The only telescope I used before was a 70mm Newtonian. The next few days, I was able to view Jupiter, then Saturn, then Venus. Seeing them for the first time was a great feeling. I'm so happy with my purchase. I know I bought the biggest one I would carry to a different site. I had to buy a tripod together with this telescope. I bought the CG-4. I copied the other reviewer here. I love that also. If you're a beginner, don't be afraid of getting this telescope or the CG-4 mount. They're easy to use (at least for me). Don't be scared by other reviews that says stay with Dobsonians. One thing to note is that the eyepiece that comes with the telescope is 2" not 1.25". Not bad.. but don't start buying 2" filters before you buy this telescope because it will not fit.

Excellent, fast service

Shipped fast, works great beyond the occasional Mak-Cass air currents if the temperature vhanges too abruptly. See attached pics that I got with this Skymax 127 on a CG4 manual eq mount, and captured with ZWO ASI120MC-S.

A Great Little Scope for the Price

For a smaller aperture than I'm used to using, this little scope packs a punch at 6". The optics are superb, colors pure, field perfectly flat. I also own a TPO 10" Truss RC, but it's big and bulky and susceptible to breezes for short exposure astrophotography. I bought this little Sky-Watcher beauty because even in breezy conditions, its profile and weight keep it from being moved around much. At this price, and with optics of this quality (for which Sky-Watcher is well known in all their scopes), it's impossible to go wrong, especially for portable setups.

Love this scope already!!!

Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but it's absolutely an amazing scope right out of the box. I am very anxious to aim it to the sky and observe the wonders with my lil man.

I Am Highly Impressed With This Telescope

First, the telescope looked just like the picture. It is a fantastic instrument. Its combination refractor and reflector makes this around 1 foot length scope actually over 4 feet long (1300mm) in focal length. This increases contrast and improves the viewing image. It is excellent for astrophotography. The red dot works perfectly as a substitute for a finder scope when aligned carefully. Having the eyepiece at the end eliminates the problem of setting up an equatorial mount and trying to see the Southern skies. The lenses and diagonal that comes with it are very good quality. Any kind of mount (including a camera tripod) would work well with this instrument because of its light weight. Oh, finally, can you imagine what an equivalent 100mm primary lens refractor would cost when comparing this unit....about 3 times the cost ($1000).
