I purchased this Sky Watcher latitude base to make the conversion of a SW AZ-GTI telescope mount to be used as an EQ type. As in the past, Adorama made the online purchase a breeze and shipped right away. Although, like many others I have made purchases for cameras and accessories from Adorama, I will continue to get the word out on various forums to not overlook them for telescope accessory needs.

Makes a daytime alignment A LOT easier with the EQ wedge head, pretty much essential. Great quality. also the counterweight is really needed to shoot any telephoto with.

This is a sophisticated camera head that turns the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Astro Package in a GEM mounted platform. It's altitude and axis adjustments allow very small changes to help with polar alignment. I believe that you can achieve the same level of accuracy with a good 2 or 3 axis pan head but would require more fiddling. Not absolutely necessary but I find it very familiar since I use an GEM mount for my large telescope.

The Star Adventurer EQ Base is the perfect attachment that makes polar alignment of the Star Adventurer a snap. My first night out proved this system easy to polar align and provided accurate tracking with my Celestron C90 attached.Great product that I recommend.

Obtained the Sky-Watcher a few weeks ago and after using it a few times I have a better understanding of how it works. it's very useful and easy to use, it follows the stars very well, I've taken several four and five-minute pictures with great tracking. I would highly recommend.

Purpose-built and less expensive than any alternative Tripod Ball-Head Mount, no Star Adventurer should be sold without this "Latitude (EQ) Base".

I originally bought this base from another company but had to return it because it came with no plate (strange). For the same price from Adorama i got the base and plate-with no issues. Without the plate you cannot attach it to the star adventurer but i had no issue with that ordering from Adorama. Do be aware you might might not get a black one or what photo shows, it comes in several colors and whats available is what you get. Not an issue unless you really want base to match the device.

This is a great product. I own 3 of them but I received the wrong color, 3 times. I ordered the Black version and the white version arrived, 3 different times. Still trying to get the correct black colored item. The white and green combination looks ridiculous! Someone needs to fix their in-stock issue. Black means Black, not White!

If you are looking to create high quality astrophotography the Sky-Watcher Start is not what you are looking for. It is solid for what it does. It will easily support light weight systems such as a wide angle DSLR or Mirrorless camera system but will not accommodate heavier loads. Most zoom lenses or long focal length primes will be way too heavy for this mount. However, for wide angle shots it will work nicely and allow you to learn and grow your skills. The EQ base itself is solidly constructed and easy to use if you've ever done any kind of polar alignment but the total system has some issues. Once you have your camera mounted polar alignment becomes nearly if not completely impossible Furthermore, the overall tracking capability of the system leaves much to be desired if you can actually manage to get to any decent amount of focal length (100mm or more). You can tend to get 2-3m subs without too much problem but longer than that is problematic. For wide angle shots however the tracking is more than sufficient. If you are intending on shooting at 50mm or lower then you will not notice any of the tracking issues.

Using it with a Sky Watcher , Star Adventurer , the right part for the equipment. The vertical adjustment is is not correct and the lever to tighten it does not hold it when as tight as possible, you can still with little problem move it with the adjuster,, I even added a shim but the casting does not flex . with a level heavy duty tripod the scale is 5 degrees off. It is cheaper than a HD ball head to do the job so that is 2 Stars...and one star for ease of mounting..
