I'm new to astrophotography, but this equatorial mount has achieved my expectations thus far. It seems to track well, it's completely silent when tracking, the tripod is easy to level, and it's relatively easy to polar alignment. I got a sky-watcher universal dovetail as well so I can use it with my telephoto lenses, and it works great for that. It's very stable. iome caveats that warrants a 4 star rating over 5: - the stock grub/set screws for aligning the polar scope reticle are terribly fiddly. I replaced them with some thumb screws almost immediately and greatly improved the process of aligning the polar scope. The screw size is M3, 0.5mm slope. You can use anywhere from an 8mm to 12mm long screw. - the polar scope reticle was very dirty on arrival. I had to clean it after I unpacked the mount. - The instruction manual isn't written very well. When it comes to polar aligning, you're better off looking up YouTube videos for generic equatorial mount polar alignment.

Got this just in time for the eclipse. We also got a new Lunt 100mm in time. Even without being able to do a night time polar alignment, we were able to get a surprisingly good alignment to track the sun from Noon until about 4:30 PM. Make no mistake this is a heavy mount. The equatorial head is a handful but still would qualify as portable. The only thing that is slightly annoying is the holder or the controller. So far we have not been able to find a place to mount it that works really well. The way it is shown in the manual works but it just seems a little awkward. It is not a big issue and in no way really detracts from the usability of the mount. The mount feels solid and works well.

Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Great mount. Fits both my SVBony SV503 and Celestron SE8 tubes. It's a little on the heavy side, but you'll be thankful for the weight once the first breeze comes through and doesn't affect your exposure. I don't think I'll ever need to upgrade this mount as it has more than enough load capacity.

Have only tested it a few nights, but it is definitely an upgrade from my previous mount. Very sturdy and user friendly. Have only used ST4 for guiding and was able to get 10-minute exposures at 430mm focal length with a rough polar alignment. Really love the handle on the mount head since it's heavy and awkward to carry otherwise.

Can never purchase it because Sky Watcher can't keep up with demand.

Just received my Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro from Adorama - whom have great customer service. I've not had a chance to use it in the field yet, but expect very good performance based on a research I did prior to choosing this mount. I've had my Televue 85 APO for many years now and have always planned on getting into astrophotography. Now that I'm close to retirement, I finally decided to do something about it. I have a lot to learn, but that's the fun. The mount is rock solid quality construction and looks to be perfect for my needs.
