This lens produced a severe magenta vignette on footage from my Blackmagic Pocket Camera. Considering the other positive reviews on this lens here, it may have been a defective copy. It's a shame because otherwise the lens had a nice build quality and created beautiful footage. Unfortunately, the magenta vignette made my copy unusable for professional use. I was very hopeful that the SLR Magic would be a great lens for me, but it seems like they might have some quality control issues.

I love all the SLR magic lens -this one tends to be a bit soft around the edges when wide open but very sharp image in the middle. The lens is heavy and ready for cine follow focus which I love. Great deal for the money. very cinematic

I was one of the first people to own this lens, and I have enjoyed it ever since. It has a special character, a set of tones and softness that comes with the impressive f0.92 (T0.95) aperture. The lens is sharp at f2.8 onwards and fits perfectly in Leica M and Sony Nex systems. My only cons is the weight, in my Sony A7II keeps coming slightly down from the adapter; therefore resulting in off-focused images.

For the price, this lens is perfect for a 50mm full frame equivalent on the BMPCC. Seems sharp enough, super close minimum focusing distance, nice bright aperture and pretty bokeh. Highly recommended.

This is a beautifully built, fast lens with a lot of character. It's not the sharpest lens -- in fact it's actually a little soft, but it has a very pleasing image that is very cinematic. It reminds of older Angenieux lens, a little low contrast, rather prone to flare (in an interesting way). Not for everybody, and if you value razor sharpness over all else this is the best choice, but I like it.

I greatly enjoy this lens. It has a solid build and excellent focus feel. It is especially nice since fuji just updated to include focus peaking, making focusing a breeze with this lens. Many people do not like the fact that the aperture does not click. I does not bother me. Wide open, this lens is soft, however bokeh is brilliant. It also focuses rather close which is a nice bonus.

The SLR Magic 17mm lens is standard wide angle lens ideal for general photography and cinematography. Extremely fast T1.6 lens offering a 17mm focal length (34mm, 35mm format equivalency) and is exclusively designed for the Micro Four Thirds mount. Currently supported by Olympus, Panasonic and Black Magic system cameras. It offers superior sharpness even in low light situations. The 17mm T1.6 is particularly well-suited for street and architectural photography. Cinematographers will love this lens too!
The solid metal construction houses ten aperture blades giving a beautiful bokeh and a "de-clicked" aperture control (aperture measured in T-stops and this is the actual available light measurement.). The aperture can therefore be set step-lessly and silently, which allows soft transitions in luminance. That way there is less post-processing after shooting. 1/3 stops can be used also.
