Simple, Reliable, Lightweight
After reading very many reviews, I settled on the Slik Standard Ballhead II because of its reputed strength, light weight, and simplicity. Even some large format camera photographers recommended it. Attached to my carbon fiber Sirui, this Slik ballhead easily holds my Canon 5D II with 200 f/2.8 lens and 2x teleconverter. By holding and turning the tab under the camera mount, it easily screws onto the camera. The ball moves smoothly and the lever locks it tight. I'm happy with it.

These three words sum up the SLIK Standard Ball Head-II but they do not address the high quality standards that this ball head is made.
Using precision machined aluminum components and advanced high impact polymers, the Standard Ball Head-II will yield years of trustworthy service.
A large, circular mount area will give you camera the proper support while the free turning anti-scratch plate within the head will protect the bottom of your camera from damage and greatly reduce the likely hood that your camera could become jammed on the head.
The perfectly sized release lever makes releasing and locking the head in any position very convenient and easier to use than other ball heads having small release knobs which can be over tightened and make fine tension adjustments difficult.
Maximum recommended load; 5 lbs.
