I purchased this SBH-120 to upgrade my Sprint and Mini tripods for use with a Canon SX40 and my SLR. Looking forward to giving it its first test in Colorado this month.

Head was bought for a monopod so I wasn't worried about brawn. It is large enough to by-pass the "compact" label. It easily handles a Nikon and 70-300 lens.

Ballhead will not lock when the camera is at an angle IE:(on the Gorilla Pod) for which it is sold with. It's just not going to work with the Gorilla Pod when the camera is hanging off the side of a fence. BTW I only have a 40D which isn't that heavy and no matter what lens I use the head will not stay locked in place.

When seeking a reliable and efficient ball head for your compact point-and-shoot digital or film cameras, the SBH-120 Ball Head stands out in its category. Part of the economical SLIK series, which also includes the SBH-60 and SBH-100, the SBH-120 is designed specifically for light to intermediate weight SLR cameras, offering a perfect blend of size and load capacity.

The SBH-120 Ball Head is equipped with a user-friendly one-lever release mechanism. This feature enables the ball head to move freely and then securely locks it into place once your camera reaches the desired position. This ensures stability and precision in your shots, making it an ideal choice for both professional photographers and hobbyists.
Constructed entirely from durable metal, the SBH-120 Ball Head promises longevity and robust performance, capable of withstanding years of regular use.
