I did not purchase a field camera like the model in question designed to capture wildlife. Nevertheless, I can provide the following information. These cameras use a flash of UV light not visible wavelength light from black LEDs (see the cluster below the lens). Conventional flash is visible light generated by ionization of Xenon gas by a high intensity electrical discharge in a sealed tube. Xenon is the only gas that ionizes and gives off white light. This type of flash is used for film and digital cameras exposure. These game cameras use ultraviolet LED light sources which are silent and not visible by the human eye or animals. The sensor can detect UV light rays and thus can create an image. The UV wavelength of the light source is shorter than the short wavelength sensitivity end of the spectrum for the human eye sensitivity range of vision.
