Carl H : Can it be run on AC power? Or any alternate power than those LP batteries?COURTLAND R : Yes, there are a couple of options on the market. No direct AC, but check this out: https://www.adorama.com/gygvdtaplpe6.htmlJames R : No it cannot
Shopper : Will this work well with a Nikon Z6 ?James R : Yes, the connection on the Nikon Z6 is a HDMI mini. So you will need a HDMI to HDMI Mini cable.Kristian G : Yes, the smallHD can take any HDMI signal from the Nikon Z6.STEWART S : This monitor works well with any camera that has an HDMI output. You’ll need a cable that matches the camera’s output connector to the monitor’s input connector.
NATHAN D : are batteries and hdmi cables included? how long does monitor last with 2 batteries? can it run on one battery?Jonathan P : Neither batteries nor hdmi were included. It does run on one batterySTUART R : No batteries, or cable are included. It works with Canon LP-E6 batteries. I would say it will last 2-3 hours on two batteries. Yes, will work on one battery.COURTLAND R : Batteries and cables are not included! The 501 uses the same Canon LP-E6N batteries as the 5DMK III, 5DMK IV, and 7DMK II. I own several pairs and I swap out batteries after about a half day of shooting.

Extremely Useful

I use this with my Canon C100 and with DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Having a screen larger than the on-camera LCD is critical to accurate focus and exposure and makes framing easier as well. I like having the HDMI in and out so I can connect the camera to the 501 then connect the 501 to a larger monitor for clients or for students when I'm teaching. I also appreciate that it operates on the same batteries that I use in my Canon 5D mk3.

Quality...Quality..Did I say Quality?

when you open the package you immediately know this is a company who is in it for the long haul. Very well made, simple to use, and, it works. In an age of new models coming out each week from every manufacturer, and costs being cut on build quality, Small did not do that with this unit. I've used it all day, and it does get hot, but worked as advertised and I'm very happy with it.

love it

I bought this monitor for use on my gimbal and my Sony A7S. The main reason was for the size and because the A7S does not show it's zebras/peaking when outputting to a monitor so I needed a monitor with those built in features.

Small, Light, Good!

I was debating between this and the atomos ninja flame. I bought this instead because it has a fantastic interface. I really love the UI as I can have access to so much information real quick - which is a must on set.

It's well worth the price, highly recommended.

Using with my C100 and it makes shooting much easier and the design is a total home run by SmallHD. The LCD on the C100 mk1 is lacking in color accuracy and the 501 aids in that regard and the full HD screen makes focusing a breeze. The menus and tools are very easy to configure to the users preference. Today I mounted it upside down and I was wondering how far I would have to go into the menu to flip the image but the 501 flipped the image automatically! Just one of the many smart tools the 501 offers. It's well worth the price, highly recommended.

A brilliant display with a desirable form factor
The SmallHD 501 is the lightest 5-inch, 1080p Full HD field monitor with color capabilities that rival OLED technology. It's a mere 7.4 oz light and is able to reproduce 100% Rec 709 color.

Durability: futureproof your investment.
Cameras come and go; SmallHD oncamera monitors are built to last. Housed in a milled aluminum frame with a rubberized coating, the 500 Series has durability in its DNA.

Exposure Assist: professional, accurate exposure tools.
Whether you prefer Waveform, False Color, Vectorscope or Zebra, the 500 Series has a uniquely customizable tool set to help you properly expose your shot. Through the use of Pages, you can organize and optimize your monitoring workflow for speed and agility.

LUT Preview: creative confidence during production.
Most largescale productions have a crew dedicated to producing and distributing live color grades on set. The 500 Series brings the benefits of post production LUT preview to an affordable, 5inch oncamera monitor.

A user experience that will enhance your on set workflow
• Navigate by simply moving and clicking the joystick - this allows easy access to 'pages' which can be customized with any feature, including custom looks (3D LUTs)
• With pages set up, the 501 becomes an invaluable on-set tool for letting you quickly spot-check your entire shot for problem areas as well as using LUTs to 'see' new opportunities for shots on the fly.
• Zoom into your image at any time by pressing Upon the joystick; click to switch to pan mode and at any time press the back button to reset.

Designed with the Sidefinder in mind
The 500 Series monitor is the key component to the SmallHD Sidefinder (the highest resolution EVF with a flip-out 1080p display).
