More than I paid for. As much power but no noise d

My unit is still performing very well after almost three years of not-so-nice uncontrolled non-stop use. It's turned on 25/7 /365. And it's access to on-line web sites and broad range of data supply comes in handy.

Great performance at an affordable price and easil

I've had my system since early 2017. I always like Sony products and would still have my old Sony system if not for a burglary of my residence. Although the thief didn't get away with the speakers. I still use them regularly and still sound great and the cones are still in one piece and not age cracked or any voice-coil buzz or rattle. Two hundred watts was the perfect choice for me,especially when asked by neighbors to turn it up. I've got a great neighborhood to share my systems with. Thanks Sony !!

Slow response

The youtube app is slow in responding to a command. Bluetooth also lag behind when playing music compared to the actual music being played.

Good Sound

I bought this Blu Ray home theatre system a couple of weeks ago. Once I up graded the speakers to wooden bookshelf type, the Sound Quality is amazing. It plays very well.

Blue Ray player keeps shutting off

Just after the warranty expired, the unit started shutting down during disc playback. The unit goes to the main menu about every 20 minutes. This happens when playing DVDs or Blue Rays. Have run updater, has latest updates. Very frustrating.

DVD player NEVER works

Seriously, every time we try to watch a movie the dang thing wigs out and goes to the home screen! We try to start the movie again, try to go find the scene we were in, fast forward it to our place, only for it to happen again 2 minutes later! Every DVD, and I think even maybe blue ray ones too. This is trash.

Tech issues outweigh pros

I purchased this system to replace my previous 5-disc Home Theater. Unfortunately, I've had many issues with this product. It shuts down/restarts mid show. I've had issues with the sound: it randomly mutes itself (despite being nowhere near the system or remote), meaning frequent volume adjustments. Finally, the system doesn't always connect properly to my TV, so I have to spend even more time troubleshooting. I am hesitant to purchase from Sony again after my experience with this product.

Doesn't work after 6 months!

I don't know if it is the fan or where you place the cd/dvd in the unit, but it makes a noise that is so loud you can't understand the TV. I didn't register this because it was SONY and SONY is supposed to be good... lesson learned for the next time I buy some other brands equipment. So angry. This was my Christmas present I got from everyone.

Sorry Sony

My older (2003) and beloved Sony 5-disc Home Theater finally died in 2015, so I had to replace it, and chose this one, since multi-disc seemed not to be available anymore. Speakers never seemed to be working properly, and I often felt like only two were active, but figured it was the output, not the unit. Last week, Push Power/Protect alert came up, and reset instructions did not work. I expect much more service from a system like this. It hasn't had much use, since it only plays one disc at a time, and I have a smart tv for Netflix and other streaming services. It's only 2 1/2 years old. Looking at current reviews, it appears this is a common problem, and I am very disappointed that reliability is no longer one of Sony's top values.

Picks Hum from TV

We have had this Sony BDV-3100 for some time and have stopped using it. The main reason is that it picks up an intermittent noise between a hum and buzzing from the TV screen, a smart Samsung 48" TV. People around the Internet suggest moving the box farther from the TV. No, this puts it out of my cabinet and quite inappropriate. I have not found a solution. Without the hum, the sound is good. With, it is irritating. This Sony unit starts a shooting war among the smart TV, the WI-FI router, the Xfinity cable box, and the wiring. The menus and screens appearing on the TV, when they appear, from this unit are confusing and barely usable. Just try to use the Internet. The minuscule and unmarked external controls are useless without a manual and flashlight. We have discarded this unit in favor of an analog Samsung sound bar that amplifies the sound which does not play DVD, Blu-Ray, CD or anything but works without hum. Tossed another three hundred dollars away trying to get a TV experience of picture and sound that was only a switch away in earlier years.

Internet Browser

I bought this product a month ago and the sound is good but the internet browser is very very poor. The Opera Mini browser is not interactive and only loads Facebook...It cannot stream or load simple websites...its definitely a 1 out 10.

Very hi-teck

Well, this thing is going to take some time to figure out. Very hi-teck. The picture quality is exellent. Up till now I;ve been useing a Panasonic Blue-Ray player. I have all of the Star Trek movies. The first six are on Blue Ray. With the panansonic player you could tell the movie was originally on analog converted to Blue Ray. Unfortunately, the sound is out of sync with the picture and I can't figure out how to fix it. In time I will like it better. Till i figure it out.

Great except DVD/BLU-RAY play is useless

All other features work great on this system except intermittently when watching a DVD or Blu-ray disc the unit powers down and restarts leaving you at the home screen. This makes watching movies on disc impossible. Tech support says install the latest system update and reset to factory settings but neither of these helped. I see online this is a common issue. Class action? I just sent my under-warranty system in for repair but not confident Sony has a fix and once this is out of warranty I will be looking for a competitor's better system unfortunately. I have many other sony products (TV, game console) and they work fine. Disappointed their programmers can make a disc player that works.

Won’t buy Sony again

I’ve had one of these for about three years. They say 1000W but I don’t buy that. I remember having a 200W stereo system when I was younger that would absolutely blow the windows out. This system has to be turned all the way up just to even be considered a little loud. Don’t buy it. Spend a little more money and get something better. Blue ray player doesn’t even read blue ray discs anymore. Tried a cleaning disc with no luck. This thing is junk. I got so frustrated with it because it wouldn’t play a blue ray I smacked it on the top of the unit and now the disc drive won’t open. No great lose to me

Blu-ray Home Theater System

JUNK!!! Sony use to be awesome, but now it seen it is junk lost the sound quality, and it can't make it through a movie without restarting. I will not buy sony anymore. It seem the quality has dropped a lot and not as good as they used to be. it is only 7 months old, should have lasted a lot more then 7 months...

Junk

1) Volume randomly increases to max when no one is anywhere near the volume buttons or remote which makes the system unusable. 2) Severe delay between the remote and the system. 3) Sound is delayed from the video. 4) We use the television volume because when people are speaking you can't hear what they are saying (the delay doesn't help with deciphering) while music is too loud. 5) this last one is probably my fault but the name of the system is ".....with Bluetooth" and the photo shows wireless speakers so I was disappointed to see they are wired.

look elsewhere

Thought we would be happy Wanted a soundbar and new player. Saw this so went with it. Really question the 1000w output. Sound is just OK, not what we expected though. I will tell you, don’t hook up to the TV unless it’s your only option. Use the optical cable from the cable/satellite box, sound will be almost as good as a DVD. BIG PROBLEM player shuts down and restarts after about half hour into a movie. May do it 2-3 times more. We thought it was the disc, but only 1 movie of 6 we watched has made it through. All the discs aren’t bad. Will be looking into a warranty replacement. We own other Sony products, this on disapoints. Oh, the feature list says I can stream from my ipad. Don’t know how, only the audio works.

Ethernet connection KILLs my network switches

I have two of these E3100 systems wired via ethernet into my network. Within the course of 48hours (10Mar,2018), both of the E3100 systems have killed the network switches they have been connected to. Two different switches, both stuck in what looks like a Sony special broadcast storm. Wireless still works BTW, the user streaming interfaces to streaming providers inside these systems is ancient. Sony has never updated it to an interface similar to their newer Blu Ray players which are much more functional and user friendly. These may be low cost systems but the support from Sony is pretty much non existent. You will invest in the system and will be abandoned for upgrades Unless you only want a simple surround sound system with a BluRay player and minimal streaming services, avoid buying these unsupported systems. Software version is M16.R.0215

So many apps!

By trishk

Overall this is an excellent system for the price. My only complaint is that I consider the volume to be a little too conservative when I am watching television. The volume goes a lot higher when I am watching a DVD or blu-ray. The app choices are like Christmas, although some of the apps are pretty pricey. I may actually be able to eliminate some of my expensive cable services.

Awesome sound system

By shamol

Bass- Very deep bass. I tuned up only +2db and that is more than enough for me to shake my 16ft by 14ft room. Surround speaker sound quality is crystal clear and no way to hurt your years. But it has a negative issue and that is I can't hear enough untill I volume uo to 16. but after that it is awesome.

The Sony BDV-E3100 3D Blu-ray Home Theater with Wi-Fi makes an ideal companion for your 3D television. It features a 1000W 5.1-channel surround sound speaker system with several advanced features. The system offers an HDMI 1.4 output to deliver high-definition video and audio over a single cable. An Audio Return Channel requires just one cable for TV audio. Watch Blu-ray 3D movies and standard Blu-ray disc movies in full HD 1080p or upscale standard DVDs to near-HD quality. You can even upconvert 2D to 3D.

For convenience, the system features built-in Wi-Fi and allows access to the Sony Entertainment Network, so you can stream content from more than 100 services like Netflix and HuluPlus. The system also supports Bluetooth wireless streaming and NFC tap-to-pair technology. Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD enhanced audio codecs let you take advantage of high-quality movie soundtracks.

Lastly, the BDV-E3100 is DLNA compatible for sharing media over your home network. You can also connect a USB storage device to enjoy photos, videos and music for added entertainment value.
