Love this system. Sound is wonderful, and the rear speakers are wireless, meaning that there is no wire from the main unit to the rear of the room. In the back, there is a little amp which receives the signal from the main unit and then is attached with wires to the 2 rear speakers. The only way to go if can't have wires running from the front to the back of your room. Unfortunately it is no longer available. There is no replacement unit, and no 4K. SAD.

bought this along with a new Sony smart TV , soI could get full advantage ,especially on movies and music .Its fairly easy to set upand boy does it make a noise !!! its amazing just how much more enjoyable every type of programme is with good sound like this kit produces .Although the wireless rear speakers are shown on opposite side of room , they work equally well behind the TV . To be honest Im still experimenting a bit . I had to work out that when you switch on each day , although the cinema sound also comes on ,you need to re link . It only takes a few seconds though

This product was given to me April 2017 as a Retirement Gift. The sound was incredible, and the picture was great up until April 2019 when it stopped working. Since the Player would still connect to the speakers, I am now using it as a stereo receiver; the speakers still sound great.

The power comes alright but, it Doe's not respond to any function.... It only show HDMI 1 n blinks till I put it off.... Urgently needs board replacement...

I bought this not only to improve tv sound but to play Bluray discs. It took me a little while to set up but now it's fully up and running and tv sound is a definite improvement. I have yet to try playing a Blu ray disc. I have only a few minor niggles. 1. Although there is a printed quick set up guide, a full manual has to be downloaded from the internet and this download covers severals models so it is easy to get confused. For example mention is made of balancing the speakers using a supplied microphone. But this only applies to models other than the BDV-N5200W as there is no supplied microphone or an input socket to plug it in. 2. The two front speakers are on the tall side and therefore have to be placed each side of the tv. In my case I have had to use speaker stands as my 43" tv almost overhangs the cabinet on which it stands. Also the height of the centre speaker is such that it obscures the remote control sensors of my non Sony tv. 3. Personally it has taken me a while to get used to finding the right function on the On Screen Display. Overall however, I am very please with the performance of the system.

Bought this right after it came out direct from Sony. Moved in late 2015 and didn't install until I was in my new home. Bought this particular unit specifically for the wireless rear speakers, used in wall wiring for center and fronts. Using it with a Sony Bravia 48" set that I acquired to interface more smoothly with the sound system. Sounded absolutely wonderful until a few weeks ago. It is now 'muted' and makes no sound, does not respond to controls, does nothing. TV tells me it is connecting to 'external speakers' (through optic cable) but not a peep to be heard. DVD lid won't even open...So much for that.

Bought 2 weeks ago and still not working as it should. Sound quality is good but speaker cablkes are as usual with Sony far too short. The system will not link to the TV as it shouls and as previous Sony surround sound system did. 2 weeks working with Customer Support has so far failed to resolve the issue. Not impressed!

i have now got the speakers on the walls ..having to wait for extra speaker leads.......great sound and the extras on the SEN button are fab.....the sound from playing 4K discs are out of this world with the 9-1 cinema style sounds....also the football button feels like you are in the stadium.................easy to use buttons but i printed out the pages from Sony as easier to explore extras from it written down..........

I bought it because wanted rear wireless speakers. Sound quality is good, but a few things I do not like: 1) the on/off light frequently starts flashing, and the unit does not shut off, or does not turn on. The only way as I know to fix it is to unplug for a few minutes and plug again, not good! 2) The player does not play MP3 files on CD (the CD plays in my car, and elsewhere but not in the Sony unit, not good!)

I bought this and was really excited to have my first surround sound system, but it quickly broke. Just wont turn on, no idea why. Sometimes it'll turn on, sometimes it wont. I went months without it turning on and then one day after a random try, it turned on again. Now it WONT turn on. I'm so busy I didn't have time to really address the issue and missed the warranty deadline. That really sucks. Now I just have to throw it out. :-/ (software functionality is overly complicated as well.)

I bought this to replace an LG product from 2003! It was harder to set up, much quieter than expected with poorer sound quality. The "wireless" rear speakers require a mains supplied satellite amp.

I never got to play this item because it didn't come with an operating manual, so I didn't know how to use it. Sony obviously didn't want me to so I sent it back to the seller that I'd purchased it from, for a full refund, including a strong letter showing my contempt. ...but not only did it NOT come with an operating manual, ESSENTIAL LEADS needed to connect audio equipment were also excluded and I'm surprised that Sony put a BS electric plug at the end of their AC power lead (sarcasm) but then, of course, a 1994 Parliamentary (safety socket) directive demands that they do this and which they never included before. I've bought numerous Sony products over the past fifty years, all of which came with operating instructions and if this is going to be the future, Sony and any other audio manufacturer which excludes essential hardware and operating instructions will not see me as a subsequent or prospective purchaser, again.

Bought this given it had been given Best Buy status by Which. I agree with their report including being disappointed by the digital only version of the manual. Also the rear speakers aren’t really wireless but connect by wires to a shared amp. You might also have to buy a cable or two.

Re4cently bought to replace an older but very good cinema system and overall v pleased with sound quality volume and dvd/bluray. especially playing thru new Bravia TV . Only minor niggle - shame the wired front speakers (and the wiring on wireless rear pair) was not sealed into unit / using Sony own connector as want to run under floorboard around fireplace - only option appears to be to cut the wire potentially invalidating any warranty. Also on instructions great if they included guide on how to daisychain a skybox TV and Sound system together as all info only really talks about TV/System not Satellite sound....... resorted to trial and error but sound switching currently lags
