Amazing picture quality improvement over HD
i bought the 4k upgrade recently from Adorama. As per a lot of suggestions over the internet from other 4k upgrade buyers/users, i called sony tech support. they are very friendly and helpful. And followed their instructions. it appeared to be a little cumbersome process. BUt once i did on my first camcorder (upgrade) it was easier to follow on the second one. If you a serious videographer especially a pro, please upgrade your camcorders. You won't regret it

The CBKZ-x70FX Upgrade License provides support for QFHD shooting at 30p/25p/24p, allowing the PXW-x70 to capture scenes with stunning quality and at high resolution. Furthermore, for projects finalized in HD, 4K recording greatly expands the creative possibilities by enabling digital panning, camera-shake correction and other postproduction effects. Firmware version 2.0 is required for use of the Upgrade License.
