Like the CD player. I use this unit to teach with in my middle school band room. I need to be able to disable the power saving feature as I have to set the player up before a class starts. By the time the class starts, the Player has shut off and I have to take class time to reset. Sure hope there is a way to bypass the power saving feature.

I visited the website to register my 5-disk player (again). I have enjoyed this unit as well until recently when it began to repeat selections more often and no longer had the same smooth function while playing. I now need repairs and I want to request FACTORY Authorized service. Can you help me?

I'm a long time Sony fan and have always loved their CD players in particular, so I bought this carousel unit as an inexpensive way to enjoy simple, multi-CD playback, as I still like and use CD. The player works and sounds well for what it is and at it's price point, but there is one key feature that it's missing, the ability to turn off the display. One of the reasons why I've always liked Sony CD players over some others is they always had this ability, I've never owned one where the display couldn't be turned off. What happened here? Was it so hard to create this player with a display that can be turned off? At the very least, it should be able to be dimmed down a few levels, but this player doesn't even allow that. I'm forced to sit there and look at the overly bright display and watch the timer clock with no way to turn it off. This is maddening, as well as making the listening to music seem more like a cold, mechanical experience. ALL CD/DVD players should have the ability to turn their displays off! Another thing I find annoying, but far less so, is the USB recording device. When recording CD's directly to the USB, they are only stored as 128kpbs MP3 files. Really? Why not allow the full MP3 bit rate of 320kpbs? Is it so difficult? Even at full bit rate, MP3's are barely adequate, anything less is unacceptable. Anyone even remotely concerned about sound quality will find the CD/USB record feature to be worthless. As I mentioned before, I still mostly prefer and use CD, but it would've been nice to have the option to record some tracks off of some discs for convenience sake, but not at the pathetic bit rate of 128kpbs. As it stands now, this is one "feature" that I will never use. Sony, you are one of the last producers of a carousel type CD players. Please keep it up but come out with a unit that has the features I expect from Sony. I'd gladly pay a little more for what I want.

I read the operating instructions, plugged it in and opened the disk loading drawer. Down in the bottom, tangled in the draw, I found part of the disk drive, or at least that's what it looks like it should do. I live in a small town 270 miles away from the store I bought it. To return the player to where I bought it is over 400 mi. round trip

I bought Sony's 5-Disc player because we already had the DVR and TV Sound System. I enjoy having Praise and Worship music playing, continuously, throughout the house. This Sony Disc player is absolutely wonderful!! Great level of sound; easy to regulate and even makes the "old" CD's sound new!! Wonderful product Sony. Recommend it hardly. I give it 10 STARS!!!

Works as expected. Have it only a few weeks; so can't say how durable it is. There is a lag between when the play button is pressed and the music starts. During this lag, the display says "Reading." The lag is annoying but it is only for about 10 seconds and my last CD player did the same thing. I assume the lag is unavoidable.

When I first got the unit, it would not track or would freeze up. After exchanging it for a new replacement, I have no problems with it. While I miss my old 100 CD jukebox that could store my scores of CDs, this is a good multi-CD replacement. The USB flash drive feature that can transfer CDs to a digital flash drive is very convenient for up transferring the collection and being to play it elsewhere.

The first CD I tried to play exposed a problem with this player. It would not play the last track on the CD. I would not recommend this product, and I am disappointed in this poor quality from Sony.

Our first one lasted 18 years. When it started to have problems, we immediately started looking for the same one. Our favorite feature is the shuffle feature. Still trying to figure out how to save my ITunes library to the flash drive so we can play it. Would highly recommend it !

My Stereo is from 1990, and my CD player was fixed once in 1993, then It died in 2013, When I called Sony about whether it could be fixed or not they told me I could replace it, but it was no longer fixable, they gave me the information of where I could purchase one, and I have no problem with Sony, only the place I purchased it from.

The set up was easy and quick and the interface with my other equipment was just as easy. The sound quality is very good. This unit has been well thought out with several extra functions that add flexibility.

We just love this cd player. We have a single cd/DVD player that is also a Sony and have had it for years, but it only played it one cd at a time and didn't repeat. This machine islike heaven. We put in 5 disks hit repeat and shuffle and let 'er go. It's wonderful. We have a speaker for outside and spend a lot of time in the yard and garden, so to be able to listen to music for as long as we want without interruption. Is an amazing thing for us. Can't say enough good about it. Thanks for inventinug something that works so well and inhances the music lostening process.

This CD changer has all the features and sound quality that I've come to expect from Sony. As a Sony Customer now for some 27 years I am amazed how good the Consumer line sounds, no they do not have all the ES line features but excellent for the price range. The USB feature comes in handy for as i use USB thumb drive to provide my Music in my Car. Excellent product

This was a really nice upgrade from my old CD changer. The remote lets me power on/off, select a disc, etc. My old unit had far less options via the remote. This unit works quite well with my Sony stereo, too.

The CDP-CE500 ("500") arrived on time with no damage. It replaced a 5-CD player from another manufacturer that cratered after 14 years. The 500 appears to be a sturdy, well-designed CD player. I use it every week. The remote unit has full functionality, and can control the player even from at least 25' away at a very acute angle. There are only four things I would change about the 500: 1. The 500 does not identify the CD "disk number" on the 5-disk tray very legibly. The disk number is molded into the plastic beside the disk holder slot, but is otherwise unhighlighted. C'mon, 1 cent of white or yellow paint would make all 5 of the the disk slot numbers MUCH more legible. 2. Loading CDs into the unit requires that you press "DISK SKIP" (either using the remote or on the main unit), which rotates the tray to the next position. This is reasonable, but leads to weirdness (see 3, below). 3. When the 5-place tray is loaded with CDs, after all CDs have been loaded, pressing the "Open/Close" button places the initial play-point at the last CD inserted. So, if the tray is empty, and you load a CD into each slot 1, 2, and 3, (leaving 4 and 5 empty), the first CD up to play is the one in slot 3!!! VERY COUNTER-INTUITIVE [CRIMINY - Upon "Play", just set INITIAL_SLOT=1, and then scan forward to see which slots are actually filled with a CD - a function that the 500 already does...] 4. The front panel display has an alphanumeric display, so WHY NOT DISPLAY THE META-DATA ON THE CD instead of "Disk 1 - Track 2 - Min/Sec 12.44" Otherwise, I have been very happy with the 500.

I have had this newly purchased CD player changer for about a week and it has almost never played a disc without stopping or skipping on a disc. I have had 3 other CD player changers (Technics, TEAC, Toshiba) and none of them ever skipped like this until now when the 20 year old Technics started slipping and precipitated this purchase. I have 5 SONY DVD players, 4 Blu Ray) and only one gave me trouble, stopping some time but is still working well otherwise. My SONY Receiver STR 945 still works perfectly. What is the problem with these new CD changers? There are only 5 brands being sold now and all seem to have the same problem (check Amazon), but this seems to be one of the two worst. I'll be returning this and am trying to decide on buying a more expensive brand or picking up an older used one. The convenience of continued play these changers can provide thru a good audio system is very useful when doing computer work

I bought this CD a few month ago to replace an old Sony 5-disc CD player I found and had been using. It was very affordable for the quality that it has and it does everything that I needed.
